August 2011- Waste-to-Energy Exchange Debuts in November at New York Institute of Technology Auditorium
Summit Media Group’s Greener Package and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ (AIChE’s) Institute for Sustainability—producers of Sustainable Packaging Symposium 2011 and 2012—are again combining forces to produce a new, one-day event focused on cutting-edge issues in waste-to-energy (WTE). The Waste-to-Energy Exchange, scheduled for Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the New York Institute of Technology’s Auditorium on Broadway in New York City, will include presentations from industry and academic experts on the potential impact of WTE processes.
Summit Media Group’s Greener Package and AIChE’s Institute for Sustainability have announced plans for Sustainable Packaging Symposium 2012. Slated for April 3-5 at the Hilton Americas and the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, the event will bring scientists and engineering with cross-industry expertise in sustainability together with packaging professionals looking for real-world solutions.
April 2011- EPA Awards P3 Grants to College Teams for Environmental Innovation
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded grants today to six college teams across the country who participated in the 7th annual EPA People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) award competition held at the National Sustainable Design Expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
April 2010 - US EPA & AIChE PARTNER TO CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY
AIChE and its Institute for Sustainability are working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the 6th Annual National Sustainable Design Expo, which will be held in conjunction with events marking the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. The expo, to be held on April 24th and 25th on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., will showcase the work of innovative engineers, scientists and business leaders who are committed to economic growth, while reducing environmental impact. The expo will also host the presentation of awards to winners of EPA’s sustainable design competition for college students, P3 – People, Prosperity and the Planet.

March 3, 2008: AIChE Boston - Clean Energy Dinner and Roundtable Discussion
The AIChE Boston section will be hosting a Clean Energy Dinner and Round Table Discussion on the topic of Realistic Solutions to Today’s Energy Problems on Thursday, April 3, 2008. Participants will include chemical engineers, students, entrepreneurs, investors and representatives from government, responsible for developing energy policy to get together and focus on the “barriers to commercialization of Clean Energy technologies” in the following areas:
- Hydrogen / fuel cells
- Biomass / biodiesel / ethanol
- Biomass gasification
- Clean coal combustion
- Coal gasification
- Fuels from waste products
- Solar
- Wind
- Nuclear solutions
- Tidal - wave power
- Conservation – improving productivity
- K-12 energy & environmental programs
- Environmental sustainability issues
The discussion will be a working session, with the desired outcome being some unbiased guidelines for industry and government that should be of interest to everyone in the sustainability and clean energy field. Pre-registration is required.
