It is heartening to hear and read the words "sustainability" and "sustainable development' spoken and written increasingly by leaders in government, industry, academia, and the professions. It is also encouraging to note the positive actions taken in recent years.

ENGINEERS FORUM ON SUSTAINABILITY
Forum Addresses Wide Range of Sustainability Developments and Issues. At the November 12, 2004 meeting of the Engineers Forum on Sustainability, participants were briefed on the vision for the International Polar Year 2007 – 2008, the Project Sustainability Management Guidelines published by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), the university sustainability initiatives in South Carolina, and the mission and activities of the Green Blue Institute.
