Computing & Systems Technology Division (CAST)
Advancing mathematical and computing principles in chemical engineering.
The CAST division provides relevant programs for AIChE members who share interests in computing and systems technology, especially in the analysis, design, and control of process and management systems. CAST also coordinates the Institute’s activities with other societies active in this field.
Division meetings, seminars, courses and publications serve as communication exchanges for non-confidential information concerning all facets of:
- Mathematics
- Management science
- Computers
- Control
- Systems
For engineers who are not actively engaging in the above disciplines, CAST emphasizes the need for consideration of their use in the general practice of chemical engineering, and opportunities for their use in research, development, design, and operation of process and management systems.
Further, CAST encourages chemical engineering educators to focus more on these subjects and supports excellence in teaching practices.
