You're Invited
You are invited to come and learn how you can improve the way chemical engineering is done for the benefit of your company and our world at the AIChE Regional Process Technology Conference on October 1-2 at the Moody Gardens Hotel in Galveston, TX. In the morning of day one, learn how to improve your process simulation results using the best available physical property data from some of the industry’s leading technologist including Ashok Dewan, Technical Director of AIChE’s Design Institute for Physical Properties (DIPPR). In the afternoon you can attend informative sessions on Process Safety chaired by Jack Chosnek of KnowledgeOne or Advances in Petrochemicals Technology chaired by Colin Bowen, VP of Olefins Technology for Shaw Energy and Chemicals. That evening, we will hold our monthly South Texas Section dinner meeting at the Moody Gardens Hotel with a technical presentation by James D. Wetherbee of BP, whose company is sponsoring the dinner meeting. James will be giving a talk on “Managing Risk in a Dangerous World” from his perspective and experience of commanding a space shuttle or working at a refinery. During his 20-year tenure with NASA, he flew on six space flights and commanded five – the only American to have commanded five missions in space (wow!).
The next morning, come hear the keynote address from June Wispelwey, AIChE’s Executive Director, on her new Energy Initiative for AIChE. Then you can attend an Energy Efficiency session chaired by Kathey Ferland, Project Manager of Texas Industries of the Future, or a Distillation and Separations session chaired by Jose Bravo, Shell Global Solutions’ Chief Scientist of Separations. In the afternoon, attend a technical session on Current Issues and Opportunities in Refining chaired by James Turner, Senior Director of Process Technology & Engineering at Fluor and Past Chair of the Fuels and Petrochemical Division. You can also meet directly with technology companies in the exhibit hall and network with speakers and attendees during breaks and lunches (included in your registration fee). In these challenging economic times, it is vital for you to put technology to work to move you and your company ahead. We are bringing some of the best technologists in industry to Galveston on October 1-2 so you can easily justify attending this Process Technology Conference right in your backyard. I hope to see you there so you can help improve the way chemical engineering is done!
