Gas Detector
This intrinsically safe gas detector uses plug-in modules to spot dangerous concentrations of over 50 toxic or explosive gases — from arsine to xylene. It is especially useful for areas where gases under pressure could pose flammability or poisoning problems. The plug-in modules simplify recalibration. Because each module is precision tuned to “see” a specific gas, recalibration is just a matter of pulling one module and replacing it with a new one, obviating the need for cumbersome calibration cylinders. Module changeover takes less than 10 sec, and does not require area evacuation or declassification even in hazardous locations, since the detector is inherently intrinsically safe. The stainless-steel housing prevents corrosion, and an optional internal heating element enables operation in subzero temperatures.
dual-gas analyzer
This device employs technology originally developed for optical gas analyzers that measure ethylene oxide (EO) concentrations in medical sterilization chambers. Now the technology is making its debut in a dual-gas analyzer. In sterilization chambers, the new insrument gives readouts with accuracy of ±3% for both EO and H2O (steam is used to enhance efficacy of EO), despite abrupt changes in chamber temperature, humidity, pressure, condensation levels, product gas absorption. Also useful for petrochemical applications, the dual analyzer can give continuous readout of natural gas and CO2 levels despite varying pressures, proportions and flows. The standalone analyzer withstands harsh conditions, including elevated temperatures, dust, corrosion, oil mists, aerosols, and toxic and explosive environments.
Gas Detection Sensor and Transmitter Combination
Engineered for applications in refineries, petrochemical plants and compressor plants, this device couples the firm’s SEC 3000 sensor with its SEC 3100 transmitter to detect trace concentrations of explosive gas. The sensor works in tandem with the transmitter, which incorporates a plug-in memory stick that logs a permanent record of actual gas levels, remembering times, concentrations, trouble signals, service interruptions, etc. The memory stick is easily removed from the transmitter to download data for retrieval and computer analysis. The combination sensor and transmitter can handle temperatures ranging from –40°F to 160°F and humidity levels from 0% to 99%. It also automatically compensates for wide temperature swings. The cylindrical stainless-steel SEC 3000 sensor measures 2-in. in diameter and 3-in. high. The explosionproof SEC 3100 transmitter is 5-in. high, wide and deep. The sensors can be coupled directly to the transmitters or can be placed up to 1,000 ft away.
