Lexan EFR polycarbonate (PC) film
Lexan EFR polycarbonate (PC) film technology provides non-brominated, non-chlorinated flame retardance in thinner sheets than flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP). This film reduces material costs for OEMs and allows them to create, for example, flatter, lighter-weight notebook computers. It meets the requirements of the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE 2006) directives.

Lexan XHT
Lexan XHT clear, high-temperature polycarbonate copolymer resins have an optimal balance of high heat resistance and high flow. These features expand design options for molding thin-wall parts. Their proprietary chemistry alters the polymer backbone by incorporating specialized monomers, leading to good high-temperature performance, with end-use temperatures in the range of 140°C–195°C. The copolymers have excellent clarity and colorability, making them top choices for applications such as aesthetic and functional enclosures for industrial and commercial lighting, consumer products such as heat-resistant helmets and heat shields, electrical components such as fuses, and nonbiocompatible healthcare devices that must undergo autoclaving. These resins are available in a variety of colors with a clear or opaque base.

Ultem polyetherimide (PEI) resin-based composites
Ultem polyetherimide (PEI) resin-based composites, foam and fiber materials withstand very demanding and high-heat conditions. These materials can replace metal to achieve weight reduction without sacrificing performance. Ultem composites may be used to make fabric that provides long-term performance, such as for ultra-lightweight aircraft interiors. Ultem fibers provide excellent flame-smoke-toxicity (FST) performance and can be made into flame-retardant fabrics for use in industrial transportation and home furnishings. Ultem foam, which is suitable for machining, vacuum bagging, compression molding, and thermoforming applications, weighs one-twentieth that of Ultem resin and is available in three different densities: 60 kg/m3, 80 kg/m3, and 110 kg/m3.

Expression 2010 products
The European Color Innovation Center’s Expression program is designed to spark creativity and provide product designers and manufacturers with new color and effect options. Expression 2010 products are recyclable and are capable of transforming a discarded water bottle into a colorable, laser-markable engineering thermoplastic such as Valox iQ resin, which can then be used in anything from an auto body panel to a set of chopsticks. The eight Expression 2010 offerings are: (1) Menthic green in Geloy ASA resin; (2) Blushing red in Lexan polycarbonate (PC) resin; (3) Maronic taupe in Valox polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin; (4) Pottery gray in Noryl resin; (5) Freshness yellow in Lexan resin; (6) Fandango lavender in Xylex alloy resin; (7) Lagoona blue in Lexan SLX resin; and (8) Tangerine orange in Lexan resin. Effects include diamond, luster and low gloss.

Lexan ULG1003 112OQ solid polycarbonate (PC) sheets
Lexan ULG1003 112OQ solid polycarbonate (PC) sheets offer superior optical quality (OQ) and can be used on laminated or formed glazing aircraft canopies, motorcycle windscreens, vehicle windows, and other automotive and transportation applications. This high-performance material is lightweight with minimal ripple, distortion and optical defects. It is manufactured at facilities that meet ISO 9002 standard requirements. Special sheets, designated HLGA3 112OQ for scratch resistance and HLG5 112OQ for weathering performance, are available with a hard coating on one side.

LNP Faradex DS 1003 FR HI composite
The LNP Faradex DS 1003 FR HI composite is a polycarbonate-based material infused with stainless steel fibers. The material replaces plastics typically used in shielding applications that require a secondary metal coating, such as a labor-intensive copper overspray that often is applied unevenly. This compound provides an enhanced shielding effectiveness of 40–55 db (at 0.125 in.) and flame retardance that supports requirements for the elimination of halogenated additives, as well as high impact resistance and low shrinkage.
