www.melleroptics.comCustom Sapphire Optics
These custom sapphire optics are precision-manufactured in a wide range of configurations with holes, slots, wedges, stepped edges, special coatings, and other characteristics. They feature a Mohs hardness of 9, which is second only to diamond in hardness. They are chemically inert and can be fabricated to precise specifications as lenses, windows, domes, prisms, tubes, rods, and balls, and can be supplied ready for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) assembly. They are available as plano-convex and -concave lenses and windows from 0.5-in. to 6-in. dia., with flatness to 1/10th wave, parallelism to 2 arc-sec, and surface finishes to <0.5 nm. They transmit up to 85% when uncoated, and over 99% when enhanced with a coating, depending upon thickness. The balls come in sizes from 0.005-in. to 0.5-in. dia., with 0.000025-in. per ball sphericity.
Microlux calcined alumina optics-polishing abrasives
Microlux calcined alumina optics-polishing abrasives come in two grades for grinding, lapping, and finishing a wide variety of substrates, such as barium or calcium fluoride, german-ium, silicon, zinc selenide, zinc sulfide, and stainless steel. They are supplied as powder in seven particle sizes, from 0.05 μm to 3.0 μm, and can produce 10-5 scratch-dig surface finishes.
Gugolz optical lapping pitch
Gugolz optical lapping (i.e., polishing) pitch is petroleum-free and made from all-natural wood resin. It helps maintain the purity of the polishing media and substrate, and comes in five hardness grades, ranging from very soft to very hard. The grades, whose melting points range from 52ºC to 87ºC, are fully compatible with each other, enabling users to achieve intermediate grades of hardness. The pitch is ready to use without screening, filtering or mixing in additives, and is suitable for blocking, lapping and polishing applications.
