www.longwatch.comSCADA System
Control Microsystems and Longwatch have collaborated to combine the former’s ClearSCADA system with the Longwatch Video Surveillance Platform and Video Historian Platform to capture security information for critical infrastructure and convey it to plant personnel. The video surveillance uses Modbus protocol and is event-driven, thus conserving bandwidth. The Longwatch system continuously captures and stores video locally, and only raises the alarm and transmits a video message when motion is detected, showing what happened before and after the event. Through a graphic display in ClearSCADA, operators are able to view what is occurring onsite, eliminating the need to send someone to investigate the alarm. The Longwatch video platform interfaces with ClearSCADA primarily via Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) for Process Control (OPC), with Longwatch acting as the OPC server and ClearSCADA the OPC client. Longwatch Version 5.0
Longwatch Version 5.0 features the Video Historian application, which supports Wonderware’s ActiveFactory trend chart object, allowing users to automatically link plant video directly with graphical data trend charts. The Longwatch Video Engine application collects video from multiple cameras throughout the plant using standard information technology (IT), industrial networks, or wireless and cellular links. The Video Historian lets users retrieve collected video based on the context (i.e., when it was taken), such as process alarms, workflow steps, batch phases, and intruder alarms. The Longwatch Viewer interface creates a split-screen display showing real-time or archived video from one or more cameras on the bottom half of the screen, with the top half showing plant information in a variety of formats. As the user clicks and drags the chart object’s time cursor, the video moves back and forward accordingly.
