www.interstatesp.comCustom Die-Cut PTFE Gaskets
These custom die-cut polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE) gaskets are fabricated for a precise fit and are available in sizes from 0.25 in. to 60 in. dia. by 0.003 in. to 0.250 in. thick. They are chemically inert and unaffected by most corrosive liquids, vapors, and gases. The gaskets are made from virgin or filled PTFE, paraformaldehyde (PFA), thermally fused melamine (TFM), or expanded PTFE. The properties of these materials make the gaskets suitable for applications requiring durability and slipperiness. The gaskets can be filled with glass fiber, carbon, or graphite to achieve specific performance characteristics with respect to lubricity, wear, and heat resistance. Their operating temperature range is –400°F to 500°F, and they can be ordered to conform to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and military specifications.
Die-Cut Membranes
Custom precision die-cut membranes are manufactured to specification using a proprietary process that produces smoother edges than compression cutting and is performed in a clean, positive-pressure facility. They can be produced from a dxf, pdf, or almost any type of drawing file, are made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), nonwovens and other materials, and can incorporate intricate shapes, including narrow cross-sections and close hole spacing. Membranes as small as 1 in.2 with ±0.005 in. tolerances can be supplied on rolls, with or without an adhesive backing. They filter fluids and gases for pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical, and laboratory equipment applications.
Custom-Made Plastic Components
Plastic components such as seals, shims, vents, and cushions are cut using die-less digital equipment to produce parts with ±0.005 in. precision and narrow cross-sections. The tiny smooth-edged parts typically measure less than 1 in.2 and can have intricate shapes with precise details and hole spacing to ±0.003 in. They can be made from FDA-approved silicones, as well as engineered plastics, composites, microporous plastics, membranes, foams, and felt, and can be supplied with or without adhesive backings.
Mupor PTFE microporous membrane
The Mupor polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) microporous membrane features a three-dimensional pore structure that helps to keep the pores from collapsing under pressure, and comes in a wide range of pore sizes, from 0.5 mm to 50 mm. It is supplied on rolls, with or without an adhesive backing, and can be ordered in thicknesses from 50 mm to 3,000 mm and in widths up to 330 mm. The membrane has a tensile strength up to 20 N/mm2 and is U.S. Pharmacopeia-approved (USP-23) and non-cytotoxic. Since the membrane is chemically inert and thermally stable, it can be sterilized with steam and can be die-cut to specifications for use in a wide range of precise filtration and venting applications, such as in frits for liquid and gas, and in vents for caps and closures.
PTFE Components
The PTFE Components line of seats, seals, gaskets and washers is engineered from various formulations of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), and modified PTFE (TFM) to achieve the specific combination of lubricity, wear, and heat- and chemical-resistance properties required for an application. These products can be machined, die-cut, and stamped to meet original equipment manufacturer requirements for use in compressors, instruments, pipelines, pumps and valves. The components are chemically inert and unaffected by most corrosive fluids, and are suitable for use at temperatures in the range of –400ºF to 500ºF. They can be filled with glass fiber, carbon or graphite, and conform to rough seal surfaces.
