Manual Dumping Station
Designed to collect dust created during manual dumping of powder and bulk solid materials, this manual dumping station with integral flexible screw conveyor features a high-velocity vacuum fan that draws airborne dust from the operator’s atmosphere onto two cartridge filters. Automatic reverse-pulse filter cleaning allows continuous, efficient operation; timer-activated solenoid valves release short blasts of compressed plant air inside cartridge filters causing dust build-up on the outer filter surfaces to fall into the hopper. Filters are accessed easily by removing the interior baffle, and replaced rapidly using quick-disconnect fittings. The flexible screw conveyor is said to handle freeand non-free-flowing bulk materials ranging from large pellets to sub-micron powders, including products that pack, cake, seize, smear, fluidize, break apart or separate.

Inline pneumatic batching system
This inline pneumatic batching system allows simultaneous weigh batching of major ingredients supplied in bulk bags and manual dumping of pre-weighed minor ingredients, and blending of the material, while a subsequent batch is accumulated. Each of the bulk bag dischargers is mounted on load cells, allowing loss-of-weight batching from either or both bulk bags. A system controller starts and stops each discharger’s rotary airlock valve to weigh ingredients, first at high feed rate for rapid filling, then at dribble feed rate, stopping material flow once the accurate batch weight has been discharged. System software allows mid-batch bag changes. Minor, pre-weighed ingredients are added at the manual dumping station after the major ingredients have been discharged from the bulk bags. The dilute-phase, vacuum conveyor line terminates at a filter receiver that accumulates the batch before discharging it through a slide gate valve into a ribbon blender, allowing concurrent batching and blending of materials, cutting cycle times by half.

Flighted Lift
The Flighted Lift is an indexing lift designed for either vertical storage, or for buffering product during peak production times or when there is a surge during conveyance. Product is conveyed into the system as needed and is indexed and lifted with the flighted lifting mechanism, then discharged with the use of a pusher. While the system features a load point at the bottom of the lift, loading can be accomplished from any level by using a pusher. Single or multiple discharge points can be utilized in either a “C” or “Z” configuration. The system is effective in either a FIFO or LIFO material handling strategy and provides good vertical storage density. Since each system is custom- designed, weight capacities, dimensions and number of storage locations are variable. The Flighted Lift is controlled through mechanical linked drive chains, which allow the lifting chains to run in opposite directions — one lifting chain runs clockwise, while the opposing lift chain runs counterclockwise.

Sentinel filter bags
Sentinel filter bags meet the requirements of liquid filtration applications that have a zero tolerance for filtration bypass. Manufactured using a unique fabric-welding technology, as opposed to sewing, these filters have no needle holes that allow unwanted particulate matter to bypass the filter bag. This process also enables the manufacturer to shape the bags to conform to the internal shape of the filter basket, preventing bag failure. The bags come standard with a patented plastic ring that makes a secure, bypass free seal between the filter bag and the filter housing. The design of this seal creates a constant, radially directed pressure to prevent the ring from collapsing into the filter basket. Sentinel filter bags are available with either polypropylene or polyester construction in both double-length, 7-in.× 32-in. number 2 size, and single-length 7-in. × 16-in., number 1 size, to fit filter housings from most manufacturers.

Optiswitch 3000
The Optiswitch 3000, for the level detection of bulk solids, and the 5000, for the level detection of liquids, are virtually unaffected by the chemical and physical properties of their respective application media, including density, conductivity, viscosity and dielectric constant. Key to the Optiswitch’s robust operation is a tuning fork that is energized piezoelectrically and vibrates at the mechanical resonance frequency. Because the piezo is fixed mechanically, it is not subject to temperature shock limitations. When the tuning fork is immersed in a liquid or solid, the vibrating frequency changes, is detected by the integrated oscillator, and is converted into a switching command. Both the 3000 and 5000 are available in standard- and extended-tube versions, and the 3000 is also offered in a cable version.

Better-Weigh Continuous Feeders
The Better-Weigh Continuous Feeders are designed for gravimetric feeding of dry bulk materials where it is necessary to determine actual feed rates on a loss-of-weight basis. Available in seven models with feed rates from 1 to 550 ft3/h, the units provide feeding in either batch or continuous mode, depending upon the arrangement of the feeder’s control electronics. In batch mode, the batch controller is used to control the fast (bulk) and slow (dribble) speeds of the feeder. Accuracies of ±0.5% can be easily achieved in 2-lb or smaller batches, and ±0.25% in 3-lb or larger batches with time spans of 30–90 s. In continuous mode, the feeder's electronic controller is used to constantly monitor loss-of-weight of material per time in order to maintain a continuous loss-of-weight with an accuracy of ±0.25–0.50%. Standard features include a platform or lever balance scale, sealed tactile keyboard, seven-digit numerical keyboard, automatic manual batching, and 2- or 5-ft3 hopper. Sanitary construction is also available.

Stargate-O-Port slide-gate valve
The Stargate-O-Port slide-gate valve (or through-port valve) features a well-guided blade — with a hole in the middle — passing through both ends of the valve body. This design offers several advantages. Foreign matter does not get trapped in the bottom of the valve or jammed between the gate and the body. This prevents seat damage so that the valve always seats and seals well. The valve has a class VI shut-off, independent of the pressure differential between upstream and downstream side. Over 97% of the valve’s body thickness is solid material, resulting in a very stiff valve body. Capable of handling pressure shock waves and aggressive flow media, the valve is virtually maintenance-free and can be installed in any position in the pipe since it does not have a preferential flow direction.

Acoustic Mixer
Using low-frequency, high-intensity acoustic energy, ResonantAcoustic technology mixes without impellers. Suitable for the intimate mixing of gas-liquid, liquid-liquid, liquid-solid and solid-solid systems, this type of mixing applies a consistent shear field throughout the entire vessel, producing consistent results regardless of material. This leads to significant performance, environmental and economic improvements in the manufacturing of many products, making the technology especially suitable for hard-to-mix systems, such as the uniform distribution of disparate-sized particles, or the mixing of viscous polymers. Because the process requires no probes, impellers or other internal components, it allows flexibility in the vessel used for mixing, such as in-vessel sealed mixing, which is particularly desirable for hazardous compounds. Waste of expensive fillers can be reduced or eliminated by mixing in the end-use container.
