After processing, the stripped carbon can be reused as a sorbent many times, thus reducing the cost of PAC usage. The recovered mercury can be sold as a metal product. The VibraRod high-level indicator can handle bulk solids with densities as low as 3.12 lbs/ft3 (0.05 kg/dm3) and particle sizes up to 0.375 in. (9.5 mm). This sensor has a universal power supply (20–255-V AC/DC), allowing customers with various power supply requirements to specify a single part number for all of their different voltage requirements. The indicator’s single-element probe requires no calibration, and is available in a variety of configurations. This design helps eliminate false signals that typically exist when material builds up between the tines of tuning-fork-style probes. In addition, the vibrating action of the VibraRod tends to self-clean the probe of most materials. The standard length of the inserted portion of the probe is approximately 8 in. (203 mm). When an explosion event is detected, a heavy-duty food-grade elastomeric sleeve closes at high speed, using only standard plant air, blocking explosion pressures up to 3 bar. The inflatable seat design provides a better seal by using air pressure to expand the seat against the disc, providing more sealing area and an even pressure distribution against the disc. A pneumatically actuated slide-gate valve prevents material flow until the discharge cone has been properly seated in the gasketted receiving ring. The all-stainless unit can be finished to sanitary or industrial standards, whereas other models are offered in mild steel with durable industrial coatings, or with material-contact surfaces of stainless steel.
