NexPrene 9000 series of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs)
Nine materials, ranging in hardness from 40 Shore A to 50 Shore D, make up the NexPrene 9000 series of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs). A proprietary curing technology results in materials that offer processing and performance advantages for products that require soft-touch surfaces in bright colors. The materials are non-hygroscopic, so they do not need to be dried prior to processing by injection molding or extrusion. A wide range of colors can be achieved with low pigment loadings, including some pastel shades that might not be possible with conventional TPVs. They exhibit better resistance to compression set and significantly greater resistance to oil swell than competitive products, and have comparable strength and elasticity.

HDPE HTA 108 is a New Grade of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
Reducing material costs through downgauging creates a need for higher-stiffness products. HDPE HTA 108 is a new grade of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that has been developed to improve stiffness and barrier properties in coextrusion or monolayer polyethylene (PE) films. It also improves processability when blended with either linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) or metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (mLLDPE). With a density of 0.961, only small amounts of HDPE HTA 108 are required in LDPE, LLDPE and mLLDPE to significantly increase stiffness. The material’s relatively high melt index (0.7 g/10 min at 2.16 kg or 46 g/10 min at 21.6 kg) ensures homogeneous blending into conventional polyethylene grades for blown and cast film extrusion.

Plastistrength 810 (P810) polymeric process aid
The Plastistrength 810 (P810) polymeric process aid was designed to address some of the key technical issues encountered with engineering plastic compositions, such as those based on polycarbonate (PC) and styrenic matrices (e.g., acrylonitrile butadiene styrene [ABS]). Low loadings of P810 allow fast extrusion throughput owing to a strong antisticking performance without any significant impact on melt viscosity. This additive could be substituted for any of the organic fatty esters currently used as mold-release agents. P810 also maximizes the dispersion of other additives, such as color pigments, and stabilizes the matrix morphology thanks to its high molecular weight entanglement mechanism. Furthermore, it reduces the anisotropy phenomenon and improves the impact strength retention of the finished part in abusive thermal environments.

Continuous 40-ft. Pipes
Pipes in 40-ft sections are especially useful for transfer lines and other long, straight runs. They come in swaged polytetrafluoroethylene- (PTFE), polypropylene- (PP) and polyvinylidene fluoride- (PVDF) lined pipe in 1.5- to 6-in. sizes, and in perfluoroalkoxy- (PFA)lined pipe in 1.5- to 2-in. sizes. Plastic-lined pipe that is loose-lined or reverse-swaged — where the liner is compressed then inserted into a steel shell, where it expands —has  been limited in length to 20 ft. Longer sections are fabricated by compressing the steel shell down on the liner during the picking and swaging process. This locks the liner in place to inhibit differential movement during temperature cycling.

Flexeramic structured packing
Designed for acid applications, Flexeramic structured packing provides a lower pressure drop than most other random packings and trays on the market. Composed of corrugated ceramic sheets that are vertically aligned in the packed column, the elements eliminate any horizontal surfaces that may create resistance to fluid flow. This geometric construction reduces the channeling of both liquid and vapor, and provides for more effective contact of sulfuric acid and sulfur trioxide gas. This increased efficiency offers improvements in moisture removal from incoming air, which minimizes the opportunity for SO3 slip along the absorber wall. Substituting this packing in standard packed or tray columns can achieve a pressure drop decrease of up to 60% and improve efficiency by 2%, resulting in lower energy costs for most distillation and absorption operations.

Dion 31616-00/31100-00
The Dion 31616-00/31100-00 is made from low-styrene nano-composite and carbon-fiber-compatible, impact-resistant, toughened urethane hybrid resin. Designed for high-strength structural and impact-resistant fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) applications in the sheet molding compounds (SMC) and pultrusion markets, the resin was developed to allow end-users to simultaneously achieve the excellent flexibility and toughness of polyurethanes, combined with the high strength, stiffness, and temperature resistance of unsaturated polyesters. Compared to vinyl esters, this material has substantially better impact properties. Unlike polyurethanes, the material can be processed in an SMC sheet, and it has excellent pigmentability and faster processing capabilities in pultrusion. Because the resin is compatible with nano-materials, it is possible to develop engineered nano-composite FRP laminates that have significantly higher static mechanical properties and dynamic impact properties than polyurethane, vinyl ester and polyester systems. The resin’s compatibility with carbon fiber allows for the design of high-performance composite laminates, which can replace traditional laminate materials. Low both in viscosity and styrene content, the resin is injection-capable.

Sanisal P regeneration tablets
Required as part of the pre-treatment for pure-water generation systems, water softeners run the risk of growth of microorganisms on the large surface area of their ion exchange resins. Such growth has the potential to contaminate the water and result in impermissibly high germ counts that could endanger production processes. This problem is often mitigated with built-in sanitization facilities, which are complex and expensive. A simpler solution comes in a regeneration tablet: the germ-reducing Sanisal P. Like conventional regeneration salt, this additive is introduced into the salt or brine tank of the water softener. The tablet’s active substance is released and enters the water softener during regeneration, where it kills any germs that are present. The dead germs and any residues of the chemical are then flushed out of the softener during the rinsing phase, so they cannot have any negative effects on subsequent process stages. The taste and smell of the treated water remain unchanged. Use of the tablets consumes no additional energy, and normal regeneration salt is no longer needed. Sanisal P can be used in existing systems without modification.

KE2004 Series of liquid injection molding system silicones
The KE2004 Series of liquid injection molding system (LIMSTM) silicones combines a low hardness with enhanced physical properties and improved processing control. Despite their low hardness, these silicones have high tear strength and viscosity, resulting in strong products with a soft feel. Their high tear strength allows for demolding of parts — particularly those with thin walls — without tearing and creating scrap. The materials were developed so that they could be pumped with an adequate injection speed, but still have a high enough viscosity to minimize flash and provide a balanced mold-flow. The KE2004-20 offers a high elongation of 870% and is compliant with food contact regulations (21 CFR 177.2600). The KE2004-5 and KE2004-10 are better suited in manufacturing such cushioning products as orthotics, cheek and forehead pads, and ergonomic and gel-like grips.
