This new line of heaters uses direct steam injection to rapidly and accurately heat water and water-based slurries in a variety of process applications, such as boiler feedwater preheating, heating fibrous slurries for pulp stock and biomass treatment, paper-starch processing, sanitization and tank cleaning, anaerobic treatment of organic waste, and others. By using all of the sensible and latent heat of steam to heat the fluid, these systems can provide heating equal to that of an indirect heat exchanger with 20–30% less energy consumption. The standard direct-injection heaters are available in sizes of 1.5 in. through 6 in., with other sizes available upon request.

The Accu-Cab RFID (radio-frequency identification) cabinet manages tooling, spare parts and materials at their point of use. The heavy-duty, double-walled cabinet is equipped internally with four RFID antennae and an electromagnetic door lock. To gain access, users must identify themselves, either on a touch-screen monitor mounted on the door or by scanning a bar-code or proximity badge. The contents of the cabinet are tagged using passive Gen 2 tags and are located on adjustable shelving. After an item is removed and the cabinet door is shut, inventory levels are automatically adjusted; the opposite takes place when an item is returned to the cabinet. Customers may request the installation of clear doors, which allow for quicker transactions because item locations can be seen before the door is opened. The cabinet is managed with CribMaster software, which provides all the functionality that is needed to handle any type of indirect (not part of the final product) material.

The new Flame 100 Safety Burner is said to provide a safe alternative to traditional Bunsen or alcohol burners for laboratory applications. The 15-mL precision flame allows for safe sterilization of microbiological instruments. The device is activated by the push of a button and requires no match or pilot flame. Alternatively, the burner can be activated via foot pedal or external infrared motion sensor. Flame size and intensity can be adjusted. The burner is suitable for fixed natural gas and propane/butane gas supplies and gas cartridges or cylinders. The Apex line of personal air-sampling pumps has been expanded to include two intrinsically safe versions — the Apex Standard I.S. and the Apex Pro I.S. Fully compliant with ATEX 100 (94/9/EC) and UL 913 ANSI standards, the new versions allow occupational hygienists and specialists to carry out personal and area sampling for gases, vapors, fumes and dusts in hazardous, classified areas where potentially explosive environments may be present. When used with a low-flow adapter assembly, the pumps have flowrates between 5 and 200 mL/min. A sample of air is drawn through the tubes, which absorb solvents or vapors that are present. The tubes are then sent to a lab for analysis. Data from the pumps can be downloaded to a PC via a cable-free IR interface, and the Pump Manager software stores sample data for audits and recordkeeping. The Apex Pro programmable version can be configured with scheduled on-off sampling regimens, allowing the unit to be left onsite for automatic operation.
