Camfil Farr Air Pollution Control
www.farrapc.comHemiPleat dust collector filter
The HemiPleat dust collector filter uses a carbon-impregnated media to capture dusts that generate static charges requiring dissipation (such as fumed silica, plastic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and carbon black dusts). Since it reduces the risk of ignition due to static electricity charges, the filter is also suitable for use in applications involving potentially explosive dusts. The conductive media is available in the full selection of HemiPleat cartridge styles, to fit virtually all new and existing cartridge dust collectors. It is said to be the only filter to combine conductive properties with a patented, open-pleat design, which results in better airflow through the cartridge and better cleaning characteristics. This, in turn, reduces maintenance and energy requirements.
Gold Series cartridge dust collector
This firm’s Gold Series cartridge dust collector is now available with an optional integrated high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter that is mounted on top of the collector so that no additional floor space is required. This after-filter prevents collected dust from re-entering the workspace in case of a leak in the dust collector’s primary filtering system. It is a required component in recirculating dust collection systems that filter hazardous dusts and recycle air downstream of the collector. Each module incorporates two HEPA filters capable of handling 2,500 cfm (4,248 m3/h) of air per filter and is rated to remove 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 μm in diameter and larger. Unlike after-filters that are installed downstream of a fan and a filter at positive pressure, the Gold Series’ integrated design maintains the after-filter at negative pressure, preventing contaminated air from escaping in the event of a leak. The design also allows convenient access to the HEPA filters and easy change-out via the same platform used to access the primary filters.
HemiPleat Nano dust collector filter
The new HemiPleat Nano dust collector filter is said to provide higher filtration efficiencies, longer service life, and lower pressure drop compared to competitive nanofiber filters. The product line is available in minimum efficiency rating value (MERV)-14 and MERV-16 efficiency options — higher than most competitive filters. A new technology is used to apply a thick layer of highly durable nanofibers to the surface of the patented HemiPleat open-pleat filter design. Open-pleat spacing allows for better utilization of the media pack, improving air flow through the cartridge. Dust buildup is released easily during pulse cleaning, reducing compressed-air (and hence energy) requirements. The filter is suitable for use with hard-to-handle dusts, such as those produced in laser and plasma cutting, welding and thermal-spray applications, and it is designed to withstand rigorous pulse cleaning for all types of dry dust applications. An optional fire-retardant cellulose-blend base material is available.
