Barracuda v14.4
Barracuda v14.4, the latest computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software specialized for modeling fluid-particle flow problems in industrial applications, provides the ability to predict erosion in chemical plant equipment caused by particle-wall impacts. Based on the Computational Particle Fluid Dynamics (CPFD) numerical method, which combines a Eulerian approach for the fluid with a Lagrangian formulation for the particles, Barracuda is a specialized form of CFD designed specifically for modeling of fluidized systems. Because the solids are treated as discrete particles with a full particle-size distribution, Barracuda is able to calculate an erosion index based on the individual particle mass, velocity, and impact angle with solid surfaces. High-wear locations may be identified, whether the surface is metallic or refractory-lined, and the software may be used to predict the impact on erosion rates of changes to the design or operating conditions. Barracuda is widely used for modeling of circulating fluidized beds (CFBs), fluidized-bed reactors (FBRs), fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units, and other gas-solid or liquid-solid processing equipment. Detailed chemical reactions may also be modeled.

Barracuda v14
Barracuda v14 performs simulation of fluidized beds with full thermodynamics and chemical kinetics, providing 3-D modeling of chemical, thermal, and flow dynamics in gas-solid and liquid-solid systems. It operates at lab scale, pilot scale and full production scale. This release includes: the Chemistry Module, which models homogenous and heterogeneous chemical reactions inside fluidized bed reactors; the Liquid Injection Module, which simulates liquid spray coating of particles; and the Wear Model, which allows wall wear to be reported on an annualized basis. The software is useful for major oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, and power equipment manufacturers for simulating, understanding, and optimizing the operation of fluidized systems.

Barracuda particle-flow software
Barracuda particle-flow software now uses Reprise license manager (RLM), which gives customers the flexibility of using floating software licenses and the ability to easily create license usage reports. Barracuda accurately models the behavior of fluidized-particle flows. It reduces operating costs of existing processes, increases the speed of bringing new processes online, and reviews multiple design options.
