The Purair ECO line consists of energy-efficient ductless containment cabinets that minimize stress on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems without compromising protection for personnel and the environment. They are available in five standard sizes and with a choice of controllers, including the company’s new ECOair touchpad control with a color display interface. An optional BACnet network interface connects all cabinet control, monitoring, and alarm functions to an open-source facility-monitoring system based on industry-wide, nonproprietary ASHRAE-compliant protocols for green-building management. A proprietary filter-installation roller assembly simplifies filter replacement, assures proper gasket sealing, and eliminates bypass leakage during operation. Filter efficacy can be confirmed by an optional electronic gas-detection system with wide-spectrum internal chemical reference standards, including a metal oxide array for hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), an acid array to detect acid vapors, and a front-mounted colorimetric gas-sampling port for manual testing. An ergonomic armrest helps improve user comfort and productivity.
Purair vertical-flow cabinets
Purair vertical-flow cabinets guide a laminar flow of air directly toward the work surface. An ultra-low-penetration air (ULPA) filter is mounted above the work surface, and perforations in the rear wall remove a small amount of air to minimize turbulence. The cabinets are available in 36-in., 48-in. and 72-in. widths. All three models provide a nominal filter face velocity of 0–45 m/s (90 ft/min), which ensures a sufficient number of air changes for maintaining cleanliness within the work zone.
Mobile EDU ductless fume hood
The Mobile EDU is a self-contained mobile ductless fume hood that is suitable for industrial training and classroom demonstrations. Its ductless design allows easy installation and the base is mounted on large heavy-duty wheels for easy transport. With a height of 77.5 in., it fits through standard-sized doors. Its multi-layered EDU filter has been independently tested to have 99.9% filtration efficiency for chemicals typically found in chemistry curricula. The units exceed safety standards set by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ANSI, British Standards Institution and Association Française de Normalisation.
Purair 20 ductless fume hood
The Purair 20 ductless fume hood protects operators from hazardous substances, because all mechanisms in the head section of the unit are on the clean side of the filter, preventing contamination. Switches and electrical components are isolated from dirty airflow and kept away from contamination, and the work area has a removable spillage tray that can easily be cleaned. Filters can be chosen from 14 types of carbon, including specialty media suitable for organic, solvent, acid, mercury and formaldehyde vapors. The standard hood measures 49 in. wide by 27.5 in. deep by 47.5 in. high; other sizes up to 96-in. wide are available.
Downflow Workstations
Operating at low noise levels, these workstations recirculate air without releasing expensive conditioned and/or heated air into the atmosphere. They have been specifically designed as small bench-mounted units with unrestricted access for operations that are difficult to perform under a conventional fume hood. To provide protection, the downward flow of air takes contamination away from the operator, and an alarm will sound when the airflow falls to an unacceptable level. The main filter can be chosen from 14 different types of carbon, which include specialty media for vapors or organics, solvents, acids, mercury and formaldehyde. HEPA filters for particulate filtration are also available
