Simulator Upgrade Combines An Improved User Interface with Network Licensing

Simio Version 2 adds network licensing as well as improvements to the simulator’s user interface, which has been simplified to make navigation around the model much easier. Its main windows have been reorganized to make finding and switching between model components more intuitive. Much has been simplified to allow users to concentrate on the most important features, yet still have easy access to more-advanced features. More right-click options have been added, and utility windows can be easily hidden to enable full-screen animation. Both the Enterprise Edition and University Edition of the software can be installed on a network server, allowing one or more licenses to be shared across multiple users or geographic locations. Other key improvements include business graphics, status charts, object state tracking, file importing, ten-dimension arrays, relational database tables, improved execution speed, workstation object searching, distributions, functions, dynamic selection rules, and support for Windows 7.

SCADA/HMI has Expanded Compatibility

InduSoft Web Studio Version 6.1 Service Pack 6 is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. This human-machine interface (HMI) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software is available through flexible licensing, supporting both USB hard-key licensing and soft-key licensing. It allows sharing data with any SQL Relational Database, such as Microsoft SQL Server CE 3.5 + Service Pack 1 and the MySQL.Net Connectors. Its custom serial driver (TxRx) allows users to transmit and receive hexadecimal codes to support both ASCII and non-ASCII protocols. If it does not have built-in the driver required for a particular device, it communicates simple streaming protocols, such as those used by bar code readers, radio-frequency identification (RFID) devices, temperature controllers, actuators, and custom embedded controllers. It supports PDF printing on 64-bit operating systems and sending e-mail in almost any language using the UNICODE text format. Even though users can already develop applications in any language, the company offers a Japanese-language pack that allows the development environment to be experienced in either English or Japanese.

Reporting Software Amalgamates Many Data Points

Atlas Reporting enables easy graphical analysis of sophisticated log files generated by the Atlas Base Unit, Atlas Software or Atlas Syringe Pump. These graphs can be created in seconds using the included wizard, which incorporates an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop interface. Files from Atlas modules and other software can be uploaded via a USB stick to enable graphs to be created, customized and printed. Multiple files can be imported simultaneously, allowing various parameters from different experiments to be plotted on the same graph for comprehensive batch-to-batch analysis. The software also displays comments added by the user during the experiment; a line on the graph indicates when the comment was added, highlighting correlations between any observations and the data. Graphs of reaction power, reaction enthalpy, overall process enthalpy, and sensible heat of addition are all automatically displayed.
