Heat-Formed Tubing and Hose Eliminate Fitting Connections

With a heat-formed shape, only one part is needed instead of separate pieces that must be bent around or threaded through other equipment and machinery. This reduces the need for extra fittings and clamps and minimizes spare-parts inventory, and virtually eliminates the potential for leaks. Installation is faster and easier because fewer connections are required, and the lack of cumbersome fittings and clamps allows these systems to be used in restricted-space applications. Numerous shapes can be produced, from single elbows and curves to parts involving coiled sections, flared ends, and multiple twists and bends. Materials that can be heat-formed include polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane, nylon, and other thermoplastics. Both unreinforced tubing and braid-reinforced hose may be used.

Filters Prevent Unloading of Process Contaminants

Stratum Series melt-blown depth filter cartridges have a four-zone design that creates a true-graded pore structure, which provides better on-stream life and flow than typical graded-density filters. The Stratum filters feature a proprietary “Cactus Core” that immobilizes all media and prevents unloading of the captured contaminant. They are constructed of 100% pure polypropylene in compliance with the FDA’s USP Class VI standard. Stratum A filters perform at 99.9% efficiency for particles in the 0.5–70 µm range, and Stratum C filters perform at 90% efficiency for particles in the 0.5–75 µm range.

Compressors are Redesigned For Energy Efficiency

These two-stage tandem rotary-screw compressors provide excellent full-load efficiency, and have demonstrated a 2-yr payback in energy savings over single-stage compressors. The TS-20, TS-32 and TS-32S models have constant-speed drives and capacities of 500–3,000 actual ft3/min (acfm). The V-200TS and V-320TS variable-speed-drive models have a capacity range of 495–2,310 acfm. All models in both series have pressure capacities ranging from 100 to 175 psig, and use the manufacturer’s spiral valve technology to match pressure and capacity with system demand.

Corrosion Testing Device Electronically Measures Chloride

The Chlor*ion meter has an internal ion-specific electrode that digitally monitors surfaces for salt corrosion, instead of an external electrode that is subject to field conditions. Since digital tests do not require a glass titrator tube, the Chlor*ion meter has a lower cost per test. All readings are recorded electronically for lab-quality accuracy and cannot be changed or deleted by the operator. Data can be transferred to a spreadsheet via a USB connection.

Pressure Calibrator Features an Extended Range

The PPC4 high-performance pressure calibrator for testing pneumatic pressure instruments provides versatility and ease-of-use in calibration labs and manufacturing environments. The calibrator’s maximum pressure range has been increased to an absolute pressure of 14 MPa (2,000 psi), and its patented dynamic control has been improved to extend the minimum controlled pressure down to 1 kPa. An advanced graphical user interface (GUI) now supports 11 different languages: Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Bench-top users can select the advanced graphic color display with point-and-click navigation to streamline pressure calibration and testing tasks. If the unit will usually be interfaced directly to a computer, a basic front-panel option is available to minimize cost. The PPC4 uses the manufacturer’s individually characterized quartz reference-pressure transducer (Q-RPT) modules for increased precision and reduced measurement uncertainty. The AutoRange feature supports infinite ranging, automatically optimizing all aspects of operation for the exact range of the device being calibrated. The calibrator is rugged enough for mobile applications and standard shipment without special packaging.

Supercritical Fluid Extraction System has a Large-Capacity Pressurized Vessel

The SFT-100XW supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) system applies supercritical fluid techniques to various analyses and processing challenges, as well as quality control/quality analysis (QC/QA), repetitive laboratory analysis, and process development applications. It uses dual sapphire syringe-pump technology to pressurize the stainless steel vessel, which may contain up to 500 mL of fluid at pressures up to 10,000 psi. These large processing vessels enable the user to extract very low levels of key components from materials, or to process larger amounts of bulk material than would be possible with conventional, analytical-scale SFE equipment. The system features an integrated preheater that maintains the fluid delivered to the extraction vessel at a constant temperature, ensuring efficient, consistent, and repeatable results. An optional co-solvent pump extends the system’s versatility by enabling extraction of moderately polar compounds.

Process Safety Service Tests for Dust Explosion Hazards

This service, which uses state-of-the-art laboratory apparatus from various manufacturers, complies with both European and North American standards for dust explosion hazard testing. A computerized dual-laser particle-size analyzer details full particle-size-distribution information, improving on the basic Taylor Sieve size-analysis technique. Samples may be tested as-received or processed to comply with the ASTM-standard recommended size of smaller than 75 µm. Flammability analysis uses a 5-L spherical explosibility chamber to perform high-pressure, high-temperature tests in excess of 500 psi initial pressure and 250_C initial temperature. An isothermal microcalorimeter that can capture chemical thermal activity as low as 0.1 µW/g is used to assess safe storage and transportation of self-reacting materials.
