Coatings Indicate Temperature Changes

Thurmalox 260 TIC Series coatings change color at predetermined temperatures to provide a visual warning that an interior lining system has failed and indicate where corrective action is required. Changes occur at intervals from 25°F to 50°F, depending on formulation, and coatings are available in colors that change permanently at predetermined increasing temperatures, from 400°F to 650°F. These coatings are self-priming and comply with volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations, and are offered in yellow, blue, red, and violet. They can be applied by spray, brush or roller, and provide corrosion resistance and ultraviolet stability.

Reinforcing Filler has Low PAH Content

PUREX HS 45-RP is a high-performance black for mechanical rubber goods. It contains low polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content, complying with Recommendation XXI of the Bundesinstitut f¸r Risikobewertung (Germany) and the ArrÍtÈ du 09.11.1994 (France) standards. It is similar to PUREX HS 45, with the -RP suffix signifying its reduced PAH content. It has a low specific surface area, giving it good processability, low die swelling, and high microwave absorption.

Coating Improves Solar Panel Efficiency

Most uncoated photovoltaic (PV) panels lose about 4% of their potential power output due to surface light reflection. Honeywell SOLARC is a transparent coating material that improves light transmittance through the glass that covers PV panels, thus increasing the PV module’s efficiency and power output. This coating also significantly reduces glare from the glass, allowing the panels to better blend in with their surroundings. It is compatible with many coating processes, including spray, roller, curtain, slot-die and spin-on coating. Unlike traditional formulations, SOLARC has shelf life of at least six months, and does not require mixing of two components prior to application.

Medical-Grade Silicone Cures Optically Clear

MasterSil 151 MED is a medical-grade potting and encapsulation silicone that is formulated to withstand vibration, impact, shock and thermal cycling. This two-component material cures at room temperature (more quickly at elevated temperatures), with cure shrinkage less than 0.1%, a Shore A hardness of 45, and an elongation-at-break of 160%. It cures optically clear with a refractive index of 1.43, making it well-suited as a protective coating in optical and fiber-optic applications. Its low viscosity of 1,500 cP makes it suitable for applications with complicated contours in complex configurations. It is an excellent electrical insulator with a volume resistivity of 1E15 ohm-cm and can withstand temperatures from –65°F to +400°F. Its tensile strength is 880 psi at 73°F and its mix ratio is 10:1 by weight. It meets U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) Class VI requirements for medical applications.
