Flashing Alarm Provides Visual Alert of Fuel Leaks

The TT-Flasher alarm is designed to assist operators in conducting regular onsite facility inspections for which a visual alert is sufficient to quickly attract attention. It can be linked to the manufacturer’s TraceTek leak-detection cable and fast-acting fuel sensor probes to provide first-level alarm compliance. It can also serve as a temporary alerting solution when enhanced systems for leak detection, location, monitoring and alarms are being specified for permanent installation. Alarm installation is quick and inexpensive. The battery-operated TT-Flasher activates when a leak is detected and emits a low-energy warning signal that attracts attention during walk-through or drive-through inspections. It draws less current than the self-discharge rate of the batteries, which have a 2-yr lifespan. When the Flasher alert is triggered by a leak or a low-battery alarm, it will continue to flash for at least 30 days, unless it is turned off.

Lightweight Safety Helmet Is Ventilated

The Serpent ventilated safety helmet uses a six-vent airflow system to let heat escape and help workers remain comfortable. The helmet weighs just 13.1 oz and has a sleek, snake-head shell design. A six-point nylon suspension system provides impact absorption, and a soft, cushioned brow pad helps absorb moisture and perspiration. The helmet is available with pin-lock or ratchet suspension, which adjusts to fit 6-5/8 to 8-1/4 head sizes. A rain trough diverts water away from the worker’s face. The Serpent complies with the ANSI 89.1 Standard for Type I, Class C helmets only, and therefore should not be used by electricians or anyone working around highly conductive equipment.

Safety Trip Alarm has Three Failsafe Outputs

The STA Safety Trip Alarm performs as a logic solver and reacts to potentially hazardous process conditions. It can warn of unwanted process conditions, activate emergency shutdown, and provide on/off control in safety instrumented systems (SIS) and traditional alarm-trip applications. The 4-wire STA accepts an input signal from transmitters (current and voltage inputs), temperature sensors (resistance temperature detector and thermocouple inputs), resistance devices and potentiometers, and a wide range of other monitoring and control equipment. It has three failsafe alarm outputs. Two are configurable process alarms that trip when a monitored process variable falls outside of user-set high and/or low limits. The third alarm is a non-programmable, latching alarm that is activated if any internal faults are found by the system’s extensive internal diagnostics, or if the input is faulty or broken.

Kit Complies with Fire Safety Regulations

This fire safety kit is made to protect fluid storage and dispensing systems. It replaces the standard polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sight gage found on the front of the containers with a fire-resistant glass sight gage that is equipped with ball check fittings at both ends to prevent product spillage in case the glass breaks. Below the containers, the standard PVC hose is replaced with a steel hose that connects to a fusible link valve with a spring-activated handle. If the temperature reaches 165°F (73.9°C), the handle is automatically triggered and shuts off any possible leakage of fluid from the container. The kit can be supplied as part of a new storage and dispensing system or as a retrofit.

Subsea Wet Gas Meters Operate with Other Equipment

Dualstream wet gas flowmeters provide environmentally safe, reliable and universally accepted monitoring of total pressure, differential pressure and temperature. They are designed for direct installation at a wellhead or subsea gathering line, and have a typical lifespan of more than 20 years. The manufacturer customizes each meter to ensure its compatibility with other project equipment, such as remotely operated vehicles, subsea trees, gathering lines, available power, and communication devices. The Dualstream II Advanced flowmeter operates continuously in applications where the volumetric gas fraction is low as 80%.

Cooling Tower Motor and Drive System Lowers Energy Consumption

The direct-drive technology motor and drive system improves reliability, reduces maintenance and saves energy in cooling towers. It combines the technologies of the laminated finned-frame RPM AC motor with a high-performance permanent-magnet salient-pole rotor design. Its fan couples directly to the motor shaft and is controlled by the manufacturer’s VS1 cooling tower drive, providing variable-speed performance and quiet operation while using less energy than similar systems. Typically, right-angle gearboxes have troublesome maintenance problems in cooling tower installations. This design can replace right-angle gearbox and jack-shaft installations in many conventional cooling towers.

Totalizing Flowmeters Control Water, Coolant and Fluid Quantities

CoolPoint Totalizing Series vortex-shedding flowmeters measure, monitor, verify and control flows of water, water/glycol coolant and low-viscosity fluids. They are equipped with a totalizer that has a six-digit light emitting diode (LED), pulse output, and push-button selection for gal/min or L/min. Users can toggle between two totals, one running and one resettable. The flowmeters have no moving parts that can stick or become coated, and can process fluids that contain particles. They are available in 0.75-in., 1.0-in., 1.5-in., and 2.0-in. pipe sizes for flows ranging from 25 to 200 gal/min (95 to 750 L/min). They have a maximum operating pressure of 300 psi (20 bar), a turndown ratio of 10:1, and a flow accuracy of ±1.5% of the indicated total. The meters’ bodies are made of brass or Type 316 stainless steel with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) sensors and fluoroelastomer (Viton) seals. The stainless steel models are designed for low-viscosity corrosive fluids and water containing added chemicals.

Composites, Foam and Fiber Provide Extreme Performance

Ultem polyetherimide (PEI) resin-based composites, foam and fiber materials withstand very demanding and high-heat conditions. These materials can replace metal to achieve weight reduction without sacrificing performance. Ultem composites may be used to make fabric that provides long-term performance, such as for ultra-lightweight aircraft interiors. Ultem fibers provide excellent flame-smoke-toxicity (FST) performance and can be made into flame-retardant fabrics for use in industrial transportation and home furnishings. Ultem foam, which is suitable for machining, vacuum bagging, compression molding, and thermoforming applications, weighs one-twentieth that of Ultem resin and is available in three different densities: 60 kg/m3, 80 kg/m3, and 110 kg/m3.

Flake-Reinforced Epoxy Coating is Chemical-Resistant

The CEILCOTE 600HB Flakeline is a two-component, high-build, glass-flake-reinforced epoxy system that provides excellent chemical resistance to alkalis, inorganic solids and many aromatic and aliphatic solvents. It is designed to be spray-applied with a single coat, often without a primer, which saves on application costs and provides considerable labor and time savings. The coating eliminates the potential for intercoat adhesion problems, which can occur with multiple-coat or trowel-applied systems. Its resin and curing agent provides maximum corrosion protection against the chemicals to which it will be exposed, and the glass flakes reduce permeation.
