In-Ear Dosimeter Measures Noise Exposure in Real-Time

This personal safety instrument measures and records a worker’s actual in-ear exposure to noise during a work shift. Existing noise measurement devices only sample ambient sound, which forces employers to estimate workplace noise levels and base hearing protection policy on potentially faulty conclusions. This can waste money, as well as risk regulatory violations and the health of employees.

Conditioning System Removes Water and Contaminants from Oil

The Driflex oil-conditioning system completely removes free, emulsified and dissolved water from a wide variety of industrial and mobile lubrication and hydraulic systems. Dirt and water contamination is responsible for 70–80% of lubricated-equipment wear and failures. This system reduces water concentration and improves particulate-filtration effectiveness to optimize oil condition and minimize equipment wear, reducing maintenance expenses and costly downtime. The Driflex technology relies on a fundamental principle of mass transfer to achieve oil dehydration: since moisture diffuses from regions of high concentration to low concentration, moisture-contaminated oil loses moisture to dry air. The system pumps oil from its reservoir through a high-efficiency particle filter, which cleans the oil and protects the dehydration contactor from damage. As the oil flows through the contactor, a sweep of extremely dry air creates a moisture differential, causing moisture to be transferred from the oil to the air. The moisturized air is then exhausted from the system. No wastewater or other disposables are created, and there are no moving parts or flow/level controls to adjust. The system can operate as a dedicated unit on a particular lubricant reservoir to provide continuous conditioning, optimizing the oil without the fluctuations that typically occur with periodic purification or replacement.

Disinfectant Kills Viruses Quickly

Under a recently signed agreement, Sterifide Laboratories will distribute PURE Bioscience’s silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC)-based disinfectant as OneShot Plus DD. It kills standard bacteria in under 30 s, fungi in 10 min., HIV Type I in 30 s, and methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) in only 2 min. SDC disinfectant may be used in manufacturing facilities to kill fungus and bacteria in machinery oil, eliminating the need to shut down oil-consuming machinery to drain contaminated oil. The disinfectant’s ability to kill Legionella makes it suitable for cleaning areas with standing warm water (where the bacteria grows most efficiently), such as cooling towers, hot water tanks, large plumbing systems , and air-conditioning systems. OneShot Plus DD is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Category IV antimicrobial (where Category I indicates high toxicity and Category IV indicates low toxicity). This low toxicity rating distinguishes the product from most disinfectants, which are Category II toxins that require precautionary labeling statements. It is available in a 24 oz spray, as well as in a 4 oz size.

Plastic Bulk Containers Can be Customized

These custom-dimension, cut-and-weld plastic bulk containers allow customers to match the container size to the needs of the application. Standard-sized plastic bulk bins with widths ranging from 12 in. to 48 in. are built out to a user-defined length and height. This eliminates wasted space, optimizes warehouse space usage, and reduces transportation costs. The containers can be stacked, stored and shipped the same way as standard-sized containers. Customization options include drop doors, open walls, and solid walls on any or all sides of the containers, and in any combination. The new containers feature 4-way or 2-way forklift entry — depending on the dimensions and customer specifications — and can be built as either a collapsible or a rigid box.

Accessory Ensures Stable Gas-Standard Concentrations

The 491M-PB module is a pressure balance accessory that enables the 491M modular gas-standards generators to maintain steady gas pressures. At trace concentrations (e.g., ppm, ppb, and ppt) of reactive gases, surface adsorption within the system can significantly alter the actual mixture concentration that is delivered. The 491M module eliminates concentration fluctuations by providing a stable reference pressure for all of the mixture flow paths. This reference pressure is balanced to the system operating pressure to ensure stable delivery concentration, even during operating mode changes in either the 491M standards generator or the analytical system that is being tested.

Transmitter Monitors Corrosion Wirelessly

Each Microcor wireless transmitter (MWT) monitors corrosion as a node in a self-organizing, secure network (mesh) that provides consistent data delivery. This flexible approach adapts to a plant’s layout, which improves on the traditional hard-wired model of monitoring systems. Unlike typical wireless systems, which require a direct line of sight between the instrument and the communications gateway, the Microcor allows each instrument to communicate with the next, ensuring that there can be no single point of failure and that data are successfully relayed to the gateway. In the event a temporary obstruction blocks a direct connection, the network automatically reroutes the signal to an adjacent device, ensuring network reliability and data integrity. It uses high resolutionmetal-loss measurement that provides 18-bit resolution, and is rated for operation in hazardous locations. The MWT’s allowable operating range is from –40°C to 70°C.
