Mobile Technology Allows Remote Tracking and Uploading of Data
Essential Mobile enables a user with a handheld mobile device to collect and process information from facility locations and upload it directly via a wireless connection or a batch process into the manufacturer’s centralized Essential Suite platform for environmental compliance management. This saves the time and costs associated with manual data collection, and eliminates the need for a technician to return to a stationary computer. The software uses Microsoft technology to provide secure data-management capabilities that are compatible with many wireless devices, including those made by Motorola and Intermec. Essential Mobile for Waste helps simplify work processes for container inventory tracking, consolidation and shipping. Using barcode technology, it improves data collection and ensures timely compliance with mandates covering storage, shipment and disposal. Fast and efficient leak detection and repair (LDAR) reporting is provided by Essential Mobile for FEMS, which collects emissions data wirelessly from a Thermo Scientific thermo vapor analyzer via Bluetooth technology and uploads it into the Essential FEMS database.

Tutorial CD Explains Multiphysics Software Tools
“Introduction to Chemical Engineering Simulations” is the latest in the suite of Introduction Kit CDs containing tutorials for engineers, researchers, scientists and educators. This free resource explains how multiphysics tools can analyze and simulate a wide variety of chemical processes, including fluid flow, transport phenomena, and reaction kinetics, while speeding up product development and reducing costs. The first tutorials provide a broad overview of multiphysics, explaining key concepts and how to apply them to solve chemical engineering problems. Advanced tutorials give details on the role of specific simulation tools, such as the Chemical Engineering Module and the Reaction Engineering Lab. The tutorials also demonstrate the workflow for modeling chemical processing using real-world models, such as the simulation of polymerization in a multijet reactor, to illustrate critical capabilities.
