Code Assesses Plant Risks
The MAAP5 Modular Accident Analysis Program code provides a wide range of integral plant evaluations in support of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), design basis evaluations, and plant evaluations. This edition builds on MAAP4 code by expanding the severe-accident knowledge base, as well as modeling enhancements that extend the representation of plant-specific features. Upgrades include a new pressurized water reactor (PWR) revision control system (RCS) model, a generalized containment model, MAAP5-GRAAPH representation for PWRs and boiling water reactors (BWRs), MAAP5-DOSE, a 1-D Neutronics model, shutdown configuration models, additional benchmarks, an enhanced accumulator-drainage model, and many other BWR models.

Package Combines Historical and Data Analysis Functions
InfoLink Process Historian combines the manufacturer’s Trend Historian and Trend Link software, the Software Toolbox’s symbol library, and optional XLReporter from SyTech to provide a real-time historical view of a process. This software package can retrieve historical data and allow the user to review trends, human-machine-interface (HMI) screens, and reports exactly as they occurred. InfoLink operates on any PC, including HMI workstations running HMI/supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software, and obtains data by means of object linking and embedding for process control (OPC) interfaces to programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCSs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and other hardware and software packages. Data are stored with tags and time stamps so they can be called up and displayed on screen in real-time or in playback mode.

Chromatography Software can be Controlled Remotely
Agilent Technologies Inc. and Healex Systems Ltd. have collaborated to make Agilent’s ChemStation chromatography software support Healex’s ChemLaunch remote instrument access and control module. Combined with the OpenLAB laboratory operating system, this configuration provides an integrated software environment for large-scale, distributed analytical labs. It provides a single point of contact that streamlines administration of ChemStation/ChemLaunch operations. The ChemLaunch secure Internet/intranet-based system enables labs to remotely control and monitor analytical instruments via a Citrix terminal server environment, which allows maintenance and software upgrades to be implemented through the server.
