Pre-Weighed Standards Cut Down on Preparation Tasks

These gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) standards for natural and synthetic polymer applications provide pre-weighed, accurate portions, and are traceable to standards provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Triple Detection Standards (TDS) consist of six sets of two standards each, one narrow and one broad. They calibrate detectors that are used in triple detection, such as light-scattering, viscometers, and refractometers. Universal Calibration Standards (UCS) consist of six sets of twelve individual narrow standards, each designed to be used for column calibrations, either conventional molecular weight (MW) calibration with a concentration detector, or universal calibration with a viscometer detector. The narrow standard is helpful in determining detector volume offsets and peak broadening errors; it is particularly useful for checking molecular weight density (MWD) and other molecular values. Each standard comes in its own vial, which eliminates resolution problems, and has pre-printed labels for lab notebooks.

Reagents Make Lab Testing Easier

\TNTplus products work with the manufacturer’s DR 2800 portable and DR 5000 UV-Vis spectrophotometers to increase their productivity and minimize analytical errors. This line of reagent sets now includes copper, high-range nitrite, and mercury-free chemical oxygen demand (COD) testing kits. All three versions are suitable for use in wastewater applications, and the copper model is appropriate for testing potable water. TNTplus features barcode scanning, which enables automatic method and wavelength selection with the insertion of a vial. Its design makes the issue of dirty, scratched, or flawed glassware irrelevant. Its self-contained packaging inside a sealed cap eliminates the need to open pillows or clean glassware.

Stainless Steel Sensor is Submersible

The AST4520 is a media-isolated, submersible pressure sensor with an all-stainless-steel construction that is approved to Underwriters Laboratories / Canadian Underwriters Laboratory (UL/cUL) 913 Class 1, Division 1 IS, Groups C and D, when used with an approved barrier. It is a cost-effective solution for monitoring the level of viscous media in turbulent tanks. Its flush-diaphram steel-cage design allows for proper media flow while keeping the sensor at the bottom of the tank or well. It is suitable for many submersible and level measurement applications, including wastewater and stormwater systems, industrial lift stations, and holding tanks. Units operate over a temperature range of –40º to 85ºC and have pressure ranges of 0–5 psig to 0–15 psig. They come standard with ±0.25% best-fit-straight-line (BFSL) accuracy, electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) protection of 100 V/m, and a 4–20-mA output.

Floating Actuator Indicates Liquid Levels

The MP300 switch series has an attached floating actuator that provides simple, cost-effective liquid detection in industrial refrigeration and other process-control applications. The floating polypropylene ball is mounted on a stainless-steel level actuator to determine when a specific liquid level is reached. Once activated, the unit triggers a signal that can be used as an input to a programmable logic controller (PLC). The 2-in.-dia. ball has a working temperature up to 210ºF, and can withstand up to 250ºF for short periods. The switches are mounted outside the vessel so they are not in contact with the process liquid, and feature a sealed IP67 design to resist challenging plant conditions. The floating ball and level actuator can be customized to meet a customer’s size and length specifications.

Interface Integrates Corrosion Monitors With Control Systems

The intelligent interface unit (IIU) integrates corrosion-monitoring transmitters with either a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system or distributed control system (DCS) through Modbus or object linking and embedding for process control (OLE for Process Control. or OPC). It operates inexpensively, and works with the manufacturer’s Microcor, Quicksand and Corrater corrosion-monitoring transmitters. It reads real-time corrosion rates, erosion rates, and pitting tendency in water systems. Designed for smaller-scale corrosion-management systems, the unit can also be used as a building block of a full corrosion-management system with sophisticated software for complete corrosion control. It increases efficiency by eliminating the manpower needed to manually read probes and instruments. The unit can communicate with transmitters by means of hard-wired connections, fiberoptic links, and Ethernet links, among others.

Grounding Indicator Gets a Heavy-Duty Upgrade

The Earth-Rite PLUS grounding indicator system provides a fail-safe assurance of a low-resistance path to ground for static electricity dissipation during the transfer of flammable liquids or powders to or from tanker trucks, railcars, drums, containers, or virtually any other conductive equipment. Its features now include an optional heavy-duty stainless-steel ground clamp, a retractable coiled grounding and monitoring cable, and a quick-connect design for fast field replacement of the clamp or cable. The wide-jaw heavy-duty stainless-steel clamp provides a universal method of connecting to all common mobile tanks and vessels. Stainless steel is used in the body, spring and fasteners of the clamp, while the sharp contact points are made of tough tungsten carbide. The clamp’s contact arrangement ensures contact with flat or curved surfaces, and a special grip profile makes it suitable for direct connection with grounding posts, rods and pins. It has been tested and approved as a static grounding device by FM for its electrical continuity, positive spring pressure, mechanical strength, and resistance to high-frequency vibration. The Cen-Stat grounding and monitoring cable is color-coded blue for intrinsic safety, and has a chemical- and abrasion-resistant outer coating that also has antistatic properties. The cable’s standard extended working length is 32 ft, with optional lengths of 16 or 48 ft. A 50-ft self-rewind static-ground cable reel with ultra-low-resistance slip-ring contacts is also available. The system meets U.S., Canadian and European hazardous area standards and directives, including the American NFPA 77 and the European CLC/TR 50404.

Drying System Converts Moist Solids into Dry Granules

This granulizing-drying system consists of a centrifugal screener, a spheroidizer, a circulating fluid-bed dryer, and a vibratory screener. Non-flowing moist solids that have been discharged from cartridge and vacuum filters, filter presses, mixers or other equipment are converted into uniform, compact, dry, de-dusted, free-flowing granules that can be stored, shipped, packaged or put through secondary processing. Its Centri-Sifter centrifugal screener uses rotating helical paddles to break up lumps and drive non-flowing materials through apertures in a horizontal cylinder, thereby continuously producing moist pellets at high rates. Binder powder may be applied before the materials enter the unit or with internal spray nozzles. The fluid-bed dryer vibrates and dries particles on a perforated screen within a rising column of heated air on a first-in/first-out basis. Dried particles are discharged into a vibratory screener that uses an upper screening deck to gently remove oversized particles and a lower deck that removes undersized dust particles for re-processing. This screener operates on a batch or continuous basis. The system’s equipment meets industrial, 3A, FDA, USDA, BISSC and other sanitary standards.

Air Nozzles Remove Particulates and Gases

Swirl Air nozzles provide flowrates from 1 to 2,400 gal/h and spray angles from 50 to 100 deg., with precise control of droplet size. They remove harmful gases or particulates and are suitable for the chemical, petrochemical and process industries. For gas cooling applications, nozzles deliver liquid in volumes that are in proportion to fluegas flow, with even distribution and small droplet size. This achieves complete evaporation of droplets for maximum cooling, but without residual excess fluid use or wetting. These nozzles are manufactured from Type 316L and 440 stainless steel, and require just two inputs: the spray liquid and the propellant gas.
