Software Models Fluidized-Particle Flows
Barracuda particle-flow software now uses Reprise license manager (RLM), which gives customers the flexibility of using floating software licenses and the ability to easily create license usage reports. Barracuda accurately models the behavior of fluidized-particle flows. It reduces operating costs of existing processes, increases the speed of bringing new processes online, and reviews multiple design options.

Integration Platform’s Latest Release Expands OS Support Options
NiagaraAX is an infrastructure automation and device-to-enterprise integration platform. Its Version 3.4 release adds 64-bit Windows support with a higher capacity AX Supervisor. It also has an option that allows the Framework’s AX Supervisor to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, and a driver that supports the MySQL database. It incorporates support for IPv6, the next protocol that is set to replace Internet Protocol (IP) Version 4 (IPv4). The object relational mapping API feature provides a mechanism for managing large quantities of data by enabling applications to store components in a relational database for use by other applications. An enhanced virtual points feature provides a way to monitor data that are important but not required for control logic, alarming, or trending, so permanent database space is not occupied and network bandwidth is not consumed for data that are rarely accessed

Stereolithography Software Reduces Required Build Materials
TetraShell hollow-build software produces reduced-density structural stereolithography (SL) parts. To form a support structure, it uses TetraLattice technology, which was developed by the Milwaukee School of Engineering. This technology allows wall thicknesses to be varied and other support parameters to be adjusted, facilitating the manufacture of a variety of hollow parts. These capabilities reduce the mass of products, which generates savings in material costs. In addition to creating investment casting patterns, the software can also be used to make reduced-density metal-clad composite structures and large, lightweight, thick-sectioned parts. TetraShell is supported by Materialise’s Magics software and can easily be used on all current SL equipment.
