Chromatography Software Controls System-Integrated Instruments

ChromQuest 5.0 updates the previous Chromatography Data System (CDS) program with a new user interface, and data acquisition, processing and reporting methods that are designed to work with sampling and measurement instrumentation. This software can perform multi-level calibrations, graphic method editing, conditional sequence actions and automated LIMS (laboratory information management systems) export. It provides digital control for system components, such as pumps and detectors. Integrated instrument control supports the Focus GC, the Trace GC Ultra, and the TriPlus autosampler for liquid, headspace and solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) sampling techniques.

Suite Simplifies Setup and Management Of Smart Wireless Networks

AMS Suite Intelligent Device Manager 9.5 helps engineers to plan and manage scalable wireless networks. The software provides a common interface for users to manage their wired and wireless instruments and valves. Wireless device configuration is streamlined and drag-and-drop functionality automates the writing of join keys into wireless devices, which increases both efficiency and security. The SNAP-ON application lets users plan, customize, visualize and manage smart networks by uploading an aerial image of the plant, instead of having to conduct in-depth site surveys and prepare blueprints. Also included is the MV Engineering Assistant SNAP-ON application, which enables configuration and test calculation functions on HART and Foundation fieldbus multivariable transmitters from Rosemount. AlertTrack allows users to group multiple devices and set parameters to receive customized alerts. It also provides increased visibility to the status of field devices and documentation of parameter changes to help identify equipment issues and areas for improvement. PlantWeb Services facilitate the integration of work processes with the asset management system.

Workflow Management Program Creates Trend Graphs and Graphics

Uniformance Process Studio’s user-friendly interface facilitates process performance analysis in workflow management applications. It builds trend graphs and graphics, without requiring extensive personnel training and manual configuration. This software is designed to be used with the manufacturer’s Uniformance PHD (performance history database), which gathers critical data from equipment and instrumentation located throughout a plant. With Process Studio, engineers can easily perform trend analysis by selecting tags from the PHD and using the drag-and-drop function to insert them into a trend graph or table. Other commonly used options, such as selecting trend times and sampling methods, can be accessed through drop-down menus. The software provides a variety of trend styles, including single scales, XY-correlations and histograms. The multi-trend view displays the status of numerous trends, enabling engineers to monitor the state of several processes or pieces of equipment at once.

MSDS Generating Software Helps Users Comply with REACH and GHS

MSDgen 5.08, the latest release of the manufacturer’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) authoring system, assists customers in drafting hazard communication documents to comply with Europe’s Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) regulatory framework for chemical substances, as well as the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for classification and labeling of chemicals. These enhancements include support for an IUCLID5 export mechanism that allows the user to select any set of materials from within MSDgen and export the corresponding data into a IUCLID5-compatible file format to be used in REACH compliance. The GHS classification procedures have been updated to incorporate the complete set of GHS hazard determination logic and the addition of new country-specific GHS “building block” adaptations. The software seamlessly integrates with the manufacturer’s Ariel WebInsight regulatory data referencing tool, which enables customers to take any set of materials present in a product MSDS database and upload it into WebInsight so that more-detailed research can be conducted. The Rules Impact Analysis option displays changes that have taken place within a given set of materials when rules are updated. The Composition Component option displays component types in the ingredients section of the MSDS. Material Data Management allows formulations to be quickly and easily imported into any material record. The existing Disclosure Module has been enhanced to allow users to set default behavior for a substance at the material level, and carry forward these specifications for the material when it is used in other mixtures. The encryption and decryption methods in System Maintenance have been enhanced with new routines to further protect stored confidential information.

Fully Integrated Simulation Software Performs Virtual Tests of Product Behavior

DesignCheck is a first-pass, fully integrated simulation tool that is designed to be used with Pro/ENGINEER — the integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE program from Parametric Technology Corp. DesignCheck is a time-limited finite element analysis (FEA) software that allows engineers and designers to perform linear static stress analysis of single-part CAD models. Users can virtually test the behavior of product designs, speed time-to-market, and make better, safer products more cheaply. The easy-to-use single-user interface FEMPRO offers direct CAD/CAE data exchange and full associativity with most CAD solid modelers, and allows engineers to choose among the following analysis tools: static stress and mechanical event simulation (MES) with linear and nonlinear material models; computational fluid dynamics (CFD), including steady-state and transient heat transfer, and steady and unsteady fluid flow and mass transfer; linear dynamics; fatigue; electrostatics; full multiphysics; and piping.
