Customizable Heat Exchangers Suit the Needs of Most Applications

The Calorplast thermo-plastic all-welded heat exchangers are designed for cooling or heating in highly corrosive applications, including heating of pickling acid solutions, electroplating, anodizing, removing heat from chemical reactions, and acid recovery systems. They can be made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), polyethylene, or polypropylene, and are available as immersion, shell-and-tube, tube-plate, gas-liquid, and flexible heat exchanger models. Heating media options are saturated steam or hot water up to 35 psig at 281ºF; cooling media options are chilled water or water/glycol solutions. To meet the needs of specific applications, certain performance characteristics can be customized — for example, all-welded construction, low fouling, low pressure drops or enhanced chemical inertness. The exchangers can also be made to eliminate stray currents.

Stainless Steel Element Guards Pressure Gages from Extreme Conditions

The Sta-Kool Type 316L stainless steel cooling element protects pressure gages from large variations in temperature and pulsation. Its maximum operating temperature is 750ºF (400ºC) and maximum operating pressure is 5,000 psi at 100ºF. In tests, it has been able to reduce 400ºF (204ºC) liquid process temperatures to 100ºF (38ºC) at the active portion of a Bourdon tube. The Sta-Kool can be either threaded or welded (the latter would eliminate a potential leak path) to any pressure gage with a 0.5-in NPT male connection made of a compatible material. It can be attached between a pressure gage and diaphragm seal to achieve maximum process measurement protection, guarding against pulsation and temperature extremes.

Walk-in Oven Cures Latex On-Site

The No. 825 walk-in electric oven operates at up to 500ºF and can cure latex in the laboratory, eliminating the need to send it off-site. Inner workspace dimensions measure 54 in. wide × 72 in. deep × 72 in. high. Incoloy-sheathed tubular heating elements house 30 kW of power, and a 6,000 ft3/min, 5 HP recirculating blower provides horizontal airflow across the workload. Construction features include 4-in.-thick insulated walls, a 2-in. insulated floor with truck wheel-guide tracks, an aluminized steel exterior, a Type 304 2B stainless steel interior with continuous front-welded seams, a cellular silicone rubber door gasket, a stainless steel water cooling coil located in the heating chamber, and a removable top-mounted heating chamber. The oven includes such safety features as a digital programmable temperature controller, a manual-reset excess-temperature controller with separate heating-element-control contractors, a recirculating-airflow blower safety switch, a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) power controller, and a 6-in. stripchart recorder
