Analyzers Feature Advanced Digital-Communications Capabilities
Two new dual-input versions of the Rosemount Model 1056 analyzer, the Model 1056-HT (HART) and Model 1056-DP (Profibus), make increased use of centralized monitoring and control, sensor diagnostics, and other advanced digital capabilities. The HART-enabled analyzer allows remote calibration, continuous monitoring of four live process variables, and configuration from the manufacturer’s AMS Suite or DeltaV host applications, a legacy DCS, or a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Included diagnostics tools allow plants to estimate the life of in-process sensors and perform required maintenance on a timely basis. This multi-parameter instrument allows any combination of single or dual inputs of pH/ORP/ISE (pH, oxidation-reduction potential, ion-selective electrode), resistivity/conductivity, percent concentration, chlorine, oxygen, ozone, temperature, turbidity, pulse flow, and 4–20-mA current input.

Material Coats and Protects Solar Cells
The PowerShield PV325 is a reflective white material that protects photovoltaic (PV) solar cells, and all their sunlight-to-electricity conversion components, from such tough conditions as humid environments. PV modules typically have a 25-yr lifespan and must serve as a reliable energy source that offsets high-peak electrical demands and costs. PowerShield has a five-layer design that includes two outer protective layers based on ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) fluoropolymer film and a core polyethylene terephtalate (PET) layer, as well as two inner bonding layers of proprietary adhesive materials. It provides a suitable alternative to the polyvinyl-backed materials commonly used as coatings today.

Pearlescent Pigments Improve Color Stability of Plastics
Xymara XPS pearlescent effects pigments enhance the appearance and prolong the life of plastics. Traditional mica-based pearl pigments cause yellowing of plastic after exposure to light. This surface treatment stabilizes pearlescent pigments and inhibits yellowing. The Xymara series is suitable for use in a broad range of products, including cosmetics, bottles, jars, containers and many other functional and decorative items. The Silver Pearl XPS19 gives a white satin luster, and Silver Pearl XPS23 combines satin sheen with a discreet glitter; they can be used together and with other effects and colors to produce individual and exclusive designs. Other effects include Gold Pearl, Dual Pearl, Bronze Pearl and Xymara Nordic.

CO2 Pump Handles Supercritical Fluids
The SFT-20 liquid carbon dioxide pump delivers a flowrate of 200 mL/min without the need for external cooling baths. Instead, it relies on high-capacity Peltier cooling to stabilize pump head temperature, which maintains highly efficient compression even under high-flow conditions. The pump employs dual sapphire syringe-pump technology to rapidly and accurately produce pressures up to 10,000 psi, making it suitable for use in supercritical fluid applications. The SFT-20 is available both as a stand-alone pump and as part of the SFT-2000 supercritical fluid extractor.

Mixer Adds Liquids and Blends Bulk Ingredients
The MX-1-SSJ miniature rotary batch mixer achieves 100% batch uniformity in less than 3 min. The unit has Type 304 stainless steel contact surfaces, wide spacing of internal flights for easy access, continuous polished welds, and external moveable seals. Construction of exotic alloys as well as carbon steel, and configurations with clean-in-place (CIP) vessel-cleaning nozzles, are available. The mixer features an internal spray line for liquid additions, a discharge chute to direct the flow of exiting materials, and an insulated, jacketed mixing drum that can be piped to an oil, steam or chiller system. It can blend batches from 100% to 15% of its 1-ft3 capacity, and can distribute ingredients with 100% uniformity regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of batch ingredients. Its mixing process moves material from the sides of the vessel and folds it back toward the horizontal axis, which effects both a diagonal and a vertical tumbling motion. Lifters continuously cut out portions of the material and fold them back into the main body of the batch, resulting in rapid particle distribution without degradation. This process causes most of the particles to contact the jacketed vessel’s heated or chilled walls, maximizing heat-transfer efficiency.

Brush Gear Motors Operate Virtually Noise-Free
The ultra-quiet peristaltic pump gear motor (PPGM) series is designed for use with a wide range of peristaltic positive displacement pumps, including those that operate in liquid transportation, dosing and ultrafiltration applications. The motors are built to withstand the highly cyclical requirements typical of peristaltic pumps by generating significant torque at a relatively low operating rate. Specific pump requirements are translated into torque, speed and current to provide the exact motor response needed for the pump to provide the right flowrate and pressure for a specific application. Available in 16-W and 30-W models, the motors feature a nominal gearbox torque of 0.5 Nm and an operating voltage of 24 V. Optional encoders deliver 1 to 48 pulses for accurate pump flowrate control.
