Software Monitors Sensors’ Key Performance Indicators

The iSense software suite maintains, documents and helps to manage pH and dissolved oxygen sensors. Based on the manufacturer’s Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) technology, this software runs processes using intelligent sensors that provide sensor-specific, real-time status information. ISM enables the application of plant-wide maintenance initiatives using pre-calibrated sensors, which eliminates difficult onsite sensor calibration. Sensors can also be connected via a USB port to a Windows-based PC where intuitive analysis, calibration and documentation applications can be accessed.

Notebook Organizes Data

The Symyx Notebook is a software tool that simplifies laboratory operations by helping scientists and engineers organize their research and data. It lowers costs by enabling R&D organizations to replace multiple discipline-specific electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) with a single, multi-discipline application that is deployable across an entire enterprise. This ELN was designed in collaboration with many large pharmaceutical and chemical companies so that its usefulness would extend beyond the laboratory setting.

Safety Instrumented System Supports Windows Vista

ProSafe-RS version R2.01.00 offers improved security and smoothly integrates with the manufacturer’s Centum VP production control system. This distributed control system helps to achieve stable and efficient plant operations, which is important for performing controlled emergency shutdowns. ProSafe-RS restricts communications by controlling access to folders and the registry, preventing unauthorized access to the system. It is rated as meeting Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) requirements. It is suitable for use in the oil, natural gas, petrochemical and other process industries that use systems for emergency plant shutdown, fire prevention and fighting, and burner management.

Review Software Facilitates Design Collaboration

CADWorx Design Review 2008 enables users to see an accurate 3D model of the eventual design will look when completed, and to examine large files quickly by producing review files that are as small as one-eighth the size of the original model. The software provides highly intuitive and interactive tools, such as markups, comments and red-lining, to produce review deliverables. It allows designers to create informative animated models that detail color, transparency, shadows, layers and many other project-specific elements. The animation follows a customized (user-defined) path and can be adjusted to display the model in any combination of the six degrees of freedom, plus yaw, pitch and roll.

Upgrade Simplifies Simulations and Lowers Costs

Version 3.0.0 of MiMiC process modeling software supports virtually all object-linking and embedding for process control (OPC) platforms, including those from Emerson, Rockwell, HIMA and Schneider. Without requiring a team of simulation experts to operate the software, users can inexpensively produce dynamic and scalable simulations. This new version provides non-intrusive simulation interfaces that minimize control system changes, allow for systems testing and secure control system integrity. Its components include: MiMiC Explorer for system and simulation management; Simulation Studio for simulation building and online viewing; MView for creating real-time, configurable tables of MiMiC data; Component Studio to link dynamic process flow diagrams to MiMiC and OPC data; Data Monitor to track dynamic trends of MiMiC and OPC data; Operator Training Manager; Diagnostics; DeltaV Simulation Generator; License Manager; and Online Help. Future releases will include additional program enhancements.
