Portable Gas Detector Protects Personnel

The X5 gas detector can measure up to five gases simultaneously using advanced electrochemical sensors. This rugged instrument is highly configurable, water-resistant and 50% lighter than competitive portable detectors. Having Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Canadian Underwriters Laboratories (CUL) certifications, the unit is suitable for monitoring indoor air quality, leaking pipes, hazardous spills, underground storage tanks, confined-space entryways, and many other industrial applications. It is capable of detecting H2S, CO, O2, SO2, PH3, NH3, NO2, HCN, Cl2, ClO2, O3 and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at concentrations from 0 to 1,000 ppm

Toxic-Gas Monitor Carries SIL2 Certification

The TS4000 toxic-gas monitoring system guards against exposure to hazardous industrial gases and oxygen deficiency. It has been certified as meeting Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL2) requirements and can be used in applications that require this standard of reliability, including those in the chemical, food-processing, oil and gas, and pulp and paper industries. Inside an explosionproof housing, the system uses a highly intelligent microprocessor-based design with reliable and rugged electrochemical sensors. Its intrinsically safe interface module supports sensor replacement in the field without the need for special tools or hot work permits. For long-distance applications, it can be mounted remotely up to 2,000 ft away. Other features include dual redundant MODBUS communications, 8-A relays, three-digit display, 4–20-mA output, and indication of remaining sensor life. The TS4000 displays gas concentrations up to 500 ppm, fault codes for troubleshooting, and provides complete status information to the control room.

Control Valve Prevents Toxic Leaks

The Neles RotaryGlobe small-bore control valve can operate cost-effectively at pressures up to ASME 1500 class. Its rotary motion provides superior containment of fugitive emissions, reducing the risk of explosion and injury. The valve is designed so the thrust bearing is not in contact with the process fluid, thus avoiding the corrosion problems that often occur when hard particles are present in the flow. The valve is suitable for use with virtually all liquids, gases and vapors, both in general and high-pressure applications in the petrochemicals, refining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and biofuels industries.

Monitor Prevents Static-Electricity Build-Up

The Earth-Rite TELLUS static-grounding system monitors chemical processing operations that involve the handling, transporting or mixing of flammable and explosive products, including both powders and liquids. It is based on an intrinsically safe power supply unit controller, which is powered by 110 or 240 VAC and mounted in a safe location up to 350 ft away from the hazardous area. Within the hazardous area, an LED indicator remains bright green as long as the resistance of the connection to a designated ground exists and remains below 5 ohms, assuring the operator that there is no build-up of dangerous static electricity. An optional interlock mode will sound an alarm or initiate automatic shut-down procedures should the ground connection be lost.

High-Performance Valve Delivers Safety

The upgraded Valtek MaxFlo 3 valve prevents the stem from being removed or ejected while under pressure. This robust shaft blow-out protection is fully compliant with ASME’s B16.34 Section 6.5.1 safety standard. Featuring low breakout torque and a tight bidirectional shut-off, the valve’s design increases the Cv (flow coefficient) and minimizes shaft damage from erosive process fluid. It comes in both a standard length (ISA-75.08.02) and globe valve length (ISA-75.08.01 or DIN 3202 F1), the latter of which eases transition from globe-style valves to eccentric rotary plug valves when conditions permit.

Safety System Monitors Rupture Disc Temperature

The Flo-Tel+ burst detection system is an upgrade to the Flo-Tel, adding a thermistor to monitor temperature changes that can affect the burst pressure of a rupture disc and other key process parameters. This noninvasive, magnetic system is installed on the vent side of the rupture disc to minimize downtime. Unlike traditional membrane-type detectors, the Flo-Tel+ is fail-safe and only operates when a disc has ruptured, eliminating the possibility of a false alarm. The system can withstand all levels of potentially explosive atmospheres at process temperatures ranging from –100ºC to 300ºC.
