this month's topic ValvesButterfly Valve Now Comes in a Larger Size
The Type 567 butterfly valve is now available with a larger diameter in sizes up to 12 in. This corrosion-resistant valve uses a double-eccentric operating principle that offers improved wear and easier operation compared to traditional eccentric-style butterfly valves. This design requires less torque to operate the valve, facilitating manual operation and permitting the use of smaller, less-expensive actuators. Its off-center shaft allows the disc to completely disengage from the disc seal, even while partially open. Typical applications for the valve include water treatment, potable water treatment, and industrial wastewater systems.

Rugged Valve is Accurately Controlled
Valtek ShearStream SB segmented V-port ball control valves have a rugged design that is cost-competitive. They feature standard metal and soft-seat options that provide tight shutoff for ANSI Class 150 and Class 300 service. The direct-mounted actuator allows for better control with fewer parts, and has a double-acting piston and precision linkage connection for accurate control and high-torque output. Supplying long-lasting sealing protection against fugitive emissions, the standard configuration includes V-ring stem packing with a combination of virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and carbon-filled PTFE.

Safety Valve Isolates Explosions
The Type IVE mechanical isolation valve prevents hot particles, glowing embers and flames from passing through interconnected piping and potentially starting a fire that spreads from one vessel to the next. The valve remains open until receiving a signal from either a pressure transmitter and/or optical sensor that detects hot particles, embers and flames. Once signaled, the valve closes within milliseconds. Actuation occurs by means of a tank of compressed air located at the valve, which ensures the fastest responsepossible. The valve features a wear indicator in the bladder, which indicates exposure to abnormal wear by dislpaying a message on the controller.

These Angle Valves have Few Leak Paths
A-713 angle valves are soft-seated and self-centering. This design permits self-draining, which reduces the amount of trapped product left in the body after the valve is closed. The valves are constructed of corrosion-resistant materials, giving them maximum protection from materials such as wet chlorine. They are equipped with the capability for live-load valve-stem packing that provides constant force on the packing rings. This compensates for the packing wear and thermal expansion and contraction that normally result when flashing occurs in the system. The valves operate at low torques, provide bubble-tight sealing, and have a long service life.

Glass Ball Valves can Operate inHigh-Purity Applications
Lab-Crest quarter-turn, full-port, glass ball valves are suitable for use in food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology process applications where contamination is a concern. Their wetted parts are constructed from chemically resistant borosilicate glass, alu-mina ceramic, and TFE, ensuring that the valves are effective in high-purity applications, even in environments where chemicals or gases are present. The valves operate at temperatures up to 490_C and pressures up to 100 psi. The carbon steel flanges can be easily mated to glass or metal piping systems.
