Pump Line Now Comes in Cast Iron and Stainless Steel

The 2- and 3-in. ported metallic models in the ARO Pro Series of diaphragm pumps are now available in additional materials of construction. Previously offered only in aluminum, the Pro Series now includes cast iron and stainless steel models. Like their aluminum counterparts, the new models feature patented air-valve technology that eliminates pump stalling by utilizing an unbalanced design — by creating an optimal pressure differential, air valves do not center, even under low air inlet pressures. Unbalanced valves reduce production loss and downtime by providing better shift signals and delivering faster trip-over with more flow (172 gal/min and 237 gal/min, for 2-in. and 3-in. models, respectively). With bolted construction and a variety of material options, these pumps feature leak-tight integrity and excellent chemical compatibility. O-rings and U-cups prevent air leakage by providing a positive seal as the air valve shifts. Air flow stops when the fluid flow stops.

Syringe Pump Injects Radioactive-Labeled Chemicals

For pumping radioactive chemicals where a beta or gamma shield must be present, the KDS 310 Nano Pump syringe pump features a remote pumping unit and control box that can be located up to 6 ft away, thereby protecting the operator. The pump is used exclusively with micro-syringes in sizes from 0.5 to 250 µL. Small size, remote control and a rugged mounting arm make it suitable for use with micromanipulators, stereotaxic frames and other clamping devices. When used on a stereotaxic frame, direct injection can be performed, thus reducing the volume of sample required. The pump’s microprocessor-based controller uses a bright display and membrane keypad with a simple, menu-prompt system for easy setup, as well as preset rate and volume control. The volume to be dispensed is displayed continuously, and the pump shuts off automatically when the preset volume has been reached.

High-Solids Pumps Effectively Handle Biomass

These high-solids pumps dramatically reduce the costs of transferring biomass slurries and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) byproducts compared to conveyor systems, which tend to be more expensive and maintenance-prone. Based on a technology advancement suitable for biodiesel and ethanol plants, as well as distilleries, grain processing, and feed mills, they easily handle abrasive and corrosive DDGS applications. The pumps eliminate odors and spillage typically found with open conveyor systems, and because their closed pipe design has fewer moving parts than a conveyor system, capital and maintenance costs are lower.

Electronic Metering Pumps Perform Accurate and Reliable Liquid Injection

Tacmina PZ Series electronic metering pumps operate at a capacity that can range from 1 to 1,300 mL/min, and at pressures up to 220 psi. They are available in manual control, external input and programmable models. The pumps are suitable for applications that require accurate, reliable injection of liquid chemicals, nutrients or disinfectants. They will operate on any single-phase voltage, from 94 VAC to 264 VAC, and their patented design leaves flowrates and accuracy unaffected by voltage fluctuations. The programmable-model pump comes with onboard pH control and residual chlorine control without requiring a separate PID controller. Depending on the selected model, PZ pumps can be specified with either PVC, PVDF, or Type 316 stainless steel liquid-end construction.

Carbon Dioxide Pump Compresses Efficiently

Without the need for external cooling baths, the SFT-20 liquid carbon dioxide pump delivers a high flowrate of 200 mL/min. It generates pressures up to 10,000 psi (69 MPa), making it ideal for use in supercritical fluid applications. The pump utilizes reliable, dual-sapphire syringe technology to rapidly and accurately produce the high pressures required for supercritical fluid applications. Building on the reliable technology of its 24-mL/min predecessor (the SFT-10 pump), the SFT-20 maximizes high-capacity Peltier cooling to stabilize pump head temperature. This permits highly efficient compression, even under high-flow conditions. The SFT-20 may be installed as a stand-alone CO2 pump or as part of a system.

Multi-Function Pump Adjusts Flowrates

Suitable for handling a broad range of fluid viscosities, the Industrial Variable Speed Pump (IVSP) features a high-torque, 3-phase variable-speed drive, an integrally mounted valveless pump head, a space-saving, DIN-designed controller, and a 3-digit LED display control module. Motor speed can be adjusted either manually via the front-panel membrane switches, or electronically using 0–20-mA, 4–20-mA or 0–10-VDC input signals. Additional control functions include start, stop, acceleration, forward and reverse. Flowrates cover a range from 0.45 mL/min up to 2,300 mL/min, and are determined by the combination of drive speed, piston size and pump head stroke length. All electronic components are UL- and CE-compliant.

These Leakfree Pumps Will Not Stall

E7 aluminum diaphragm pumps have a port size of 0.75 in. and feature a leakfree, bolted construction. Their shoe-valve design prevents blow-by when the pump is online but not in use. They employ the manufacturer’s Elima-Matic air-valve system, which ensures non-stalling, non-icing, lube-free operation. For use in lubrication, adhesive dispensing, OEM systems and many industrial applications, the E7 pumps are available with either metallic or non-metallic air sections.

Rugged Pumps Perform in Extreme Temperatures

Cardinal transformer-oil pumps are rated for continuous-duty operation at temperatures from –40°F to 212°F. They allow thermo-siphon flow when the pump is not operating, which permits natural convection even when the pump is completely shut off. Along with a rugged split-casing design, the use of heavy-duty class 30 cast iron for the pump casing, motor enclosures, impellers and volutes extends the life of the pump. Large thrust-face sleeve bearings minimize wear and reduce maintenance. Three bearing types are available — a standard sleeve bearing, the manufacturer’s Harley sleeve bearing, and the Harley sleeve bearing with TecSonics bearing-wear monitoring. With two gasket seals on each pump, and no mechanical seals, repair and upkeep are reduced. Durable and resilient, the pumps’ design allows transformer oil flow back through the motor and bearings, thereby providing cooling and lubrication.

These Positive-Displacement Pumps Can Replace Syringe Pumps

The Cheminert Model M6 and M50 liquid handling pumps are designed for precision handling of liquids and/or gases, and produce a bidirectional pulseless flow with a range over six orders of magnitude, from 10 nL/min to 10 mL/min for the M6 pump, and 50 µL/min to 50 mL/min for the M50 pump. Positive-displacement pumps offer much better performance than syringe pumps, which need refilling and syringe changes. They are self-priming and tolerant of any gas that may find its way into the fluid lines. There is no separate fill cycle, and the capacity is virtually unlimited. RS-232 and RS-485 communication protocols are incorporated into the microprocessor-driven controller. The included software package controls flowrates, flow direction and metered volumes.

Durable Pneumatic Screw Pump Reduces Costs

Designed for the chemical, cement and mining industries, this pneumatic screw pump is a heavy-duty injection pump that feeds dry pulverized material into a pneumatic conveying line. Constructed with a heavy steel channel frame, oversize bearings, integral check valve and low inlet-hopper height, it is capable of conveying pressures up to 15 psi. It can handle highly abrasive, friable or very fine powders that typically wear out other dilute-phase feeders. Unlike rotary airlocks that require tight clearances to seal against conveying air, this pump uses the material to form the seal. An integrated gate prevents blowback, and the pump can withstand temperatures up to 450°F. It offers increased wear resistance to abrasive materials, as well as a low profile and longer bearing life with fewer system shutdowns, resulting in reduced operating and maintenance costs.
