Acoustic Mixer Requires No Impellers

Using low-frequency, high-intensity acoustic energy, ResonantAcoustic technology mixes without impellers. Suitable for the intimate mixing of gas-liquid, liquid-liquid, liquid-solid and solid-solid systems, this type of mixing applies a consistent shear field throughout the entire vessel, producing consistent results regardless of material. This leads to significant performance, environmental and economic improvements in the manufacturing of many products, making the technology especially suitable for hard-to-mix systems, such as the uniform distribution of disparate-sized particles, or the mixing of viscous polymers. Because the process requires no probes, impellers or other internal components, it allows flexibility in the vessel used for mixing, such as in-vessel sealed mixing, which is particularly desirable for hazardous compounds. Waste of expensive fillers can be reduced or eliminated by mixing in the end-use container.

Ceramics are Versatile and Tough

This comprehensive line of oxide ceramics can be used in a broad spectrum of applications, including medical instruments, high-temperature applications, laboratory instruments, and air and space travel applications, and they can also be incorporated into sensor and pump technologies. Product characteristics include abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, high-temperature stability, pressure and bending strength, as well as electrical isolation. Specifically, the FRIALIT line of oxide ceramics is designed to provide resistance to corrosion in aggressive media, resistance to abrasive particles, and shape retention due to its high modulus of elasticity and low coefficient of heat expansion. Simple and safe cleaning (CIP and SIP), these ceramics offer maximum precision (e.g., with metering units) and weigh approximately 50% less than steel.

New Rotor Technology Increases Performance in Evaporators

Powerfilm Rotor Technology increases performance for wiped-film evaporators at a low capital investment. For molecular distillation and wiped-film evaporation, this technology employs a proprietary geometric shape that causes the wiper to adjust performance depending on product characteristics. In side-by-side develop-mental tests against a competitor’s rotor design, the process capacity was increased by 27%. More importantly, a 260-ppm monomer impurity level was decreased to 10 ppm. In some cases, the technology may also be retrofitted into other wiped-film and short-path evaporators, greatly extending investment life.

Stronger Filter Cartridges Fight Agglomerative Dust

Ultra-Web SB is a new, tougher filter media for dust collection in chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, textile, grain, woodworking, metalworking and many other manufacturing processes that face challenges from agglomerative dust. The design of the filter cartridges combines the excellent surface-loading and dust release capabilities of Ultra-Web nanofibers with a strong spunbond polyester substrate. This creates filter cartridges with long life, high efficiency and a significantly lower pressure drop for energy-efficient operation compared to spunbond or meltblown media. These cartridges feature wide-pleat spacing, which permits thorough pulse cleaning of fine and fibrous particulate, including ceramics, cotton, fiberglass and grains. Since the spunbond substrate is made without resins, Ultra-Web SB cartridges can be used where challenging conditions, such as higher temperature, chemicals and/or moisture, could weaken or destroy the resin system within standard substrate media.
