Inline Flowmeter Series Applies the Vortex-Shedding Measuring Principle

The FV100 Series consist of inline flowmeters that use the vortex-shedding measuring principle. When fluid strikes a bluff body, it imparts alternating vortices downstream of the bluff. This creates a vibration on a sensor body that contains a piezoelectric crystal, whose frequency is proportional to the velocity of the fluid, and is amplified and converted to a 4–20-mA output signal. The FV100 Series has no moving parts and features a bright LED that displays flow in liters or gallons. It can measure flow in either direction and can be used with non-viscous, clean or dirty water-like liquids. The FV100 series is ideal for use in cooling loops that use water or 50% glycols for up to 10% water-soluble machine coolant.

Versatile Sulfur Analyzer Proves Precise and Accurate

Insusceptible to component cross-interference, the solid-state TSA-100 sulfur analyzer provides accurate total sulfur measurements, even when H2S, SO2 and mercaptans are present in the sample. It works by having a xenon light source send light through fiber optic cables into a flow cell, where the sample’s unique characteristics dictate its interaction with the light. The light enters a holographic grating, which separates white light into its components, such that a diode array detector can measure the intensity of radiation at each wavelength. As measurements report on the absorption of light by the sample comp- onents, the concentrations of the components are revealed. Because fiber optic cables are used, the analyzer can be installed far from explosive or poisonous gases. The diode array produces full high-resolution spectrum analysis, enabling easy switches between extreme wavelength ranges to provide instantaneous and continuous measurements at 0–10 ppm and 0–100%. The device can measure total sulfur content in two ways. One is the standard method, in which the hydrocarbon sample is placed in a hot combustion tube with an oxygen-rich environment, where the sulfur oxidizes to SO2. The analyzer uses the absorption of the SO2 to determine the concentration of the single component and total sulfur. The other is the direct method, in which the analyzer mathematically derives the concentration of each sulfur compound from the original process stream’s high-resolution absorbance spectra.

Durable Weigh-Belt Module Fits into Existing Transition Space

Available in “scale over” or “scale under” design, the SI Series insertion weigh-belt module is a novel feeder that has been designed to fit easily into existing belt or vibratory conveyor lines. Ideally suited for insertion into a transition space between existing conveyors or equipment, the SI Series module is comprised of a short support framework and a 24-in. long “V-Guided” conveyor, available in 12-in., 18-in. and 24-in. widths. The SI Insertion Weigher uses the manufacturer’s patented model 15L precision flexure plate suspension scale with force-measurement-suspension-system (FMSS) technology, providing for complete mass counterbalancing of the dead load of the conveyor and permitting the load sensor to react only to the net material load. The unit is unaffected by dirt, shocks or vibration, and is capable of withstanding overloads in excess of 1,000 lb without causing damage or affecting calibration.

Reusable 400-Gal Polyethylene Piston Bins Provide Protection from Contaminants

Designed for viscous products up to 500,000 cP, these 400-gal polyethylene non-pressure piston bins are closed-loop systems that protect materials from air, moisture, dirt and other contaminants. Ideal for FDA materials, such as mayonnaise and molasses, the bins are also used for transporting products for pharmaceutical manufacturers, wineries and breweries. Rugged and durable, the bins have fork-lift pockets to make for easy transport, and are reusable and returnable. The bins use a pump-operated system that fills and discharges through a single 3-in. bottom valve. During materials discharge, the airtight piston is pulled by a vacuum, thus wiping the tank sidewalls clean and eliminating product waste.

Novel Air Separation Device Improves Paper-Pulp Pump Efficiency

The Model 3500XD X-Ducer medium-consistency paper-pulp pump features a patented air-separation device that agitates paper pulp to assist flow into the pump inlet, while separating air from the water and fibers. The pump achieves lower operating costs and smaller motor sizes by increasing efficiency by 5–8% and enabling the pumping of medium-consistency pulp up to 10% without the use of a vacuum pump. Also, the head generation has increased, typically by 5%. The Model 3500XD uses the manufacturer’s inducer technology and can be retrofitted in the field
