Butterfly Valve Employs Unique Sealing Technology
The Type 568 lug-style butterfly valve has shaft seals that incorporate a double O-ring to protect against external leakage. A disc seal replaces the traditional rubber liner to allow the disc to completely disengage from the seal upon valve opening, reducing friction and improving wear capabilities. The disc seal also incorporates a cross-sectional profile that mechanically retains the seal in the valve body. And a specially engineered body seal features a Q-shaped O-ring that eliminates the need for flat gaskets. The valve has a modular design with an epoxy-coated iron lug body. The wetted inner body, disc and bearings are available in PVC, chlorinated PVC (CPVC), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or polypropylene (PP) to match the outer pipe material, providing excellent chemical compatibility throughout the system. With a pressure rating of 150 psi, the valve can withstand operating temperatures up to 120_C (PVDF), 80_C (PP and CPVC) or 60_C (PVC). Designed for dead-end service, the valve enables a piping system to be capped off, yet allows future modification or expansion of the pipeline without depressurizing the system.

Filter Press Achieves High Yields and Fast Cycles
A combination overhead and sidebar unit, the PFO filter press incorporates a mixed pack of membrane and recessed plates for significantly reduced cycle times, maximum cake dryness, and increased press capacity. Depending on the type of slurry processed, the PFO can deliver cycle times as short as 10 min, compared to 3–4 h for an average filter press. Heavy-duty, oversized inlet and hydraulic frames linked by side tension rods support the pressure piece and the entire plate pack. Two hydraulic cylinders on the sides of the filter press quickly and effectively open and space the plates. High-pressure nozzles on top of every plate rapidly and simultaneously wash the entire pack at every discharge (or as required), and a filter-cloth transfer system in the washing stage assures that filter cloth surfaces are particle-free and ready for the next operating cycle. Four models are available with plate sizes up to 2,000 2,000 mm and feed pressures up to 60 bar.

Laboratory Mill Handles Hundreds of Samples Daily Without Cross-Contamination
Size reduction in the SM 2000 centrifugal mill takes place by impact and shearing effects between the rotor and fixed ring sieve. This two-step process ensures gentle, but fast processing. The final particle size is determined by the aperture size of the easily interchangeable ring sieves, which are available in sizes from 0.08 mm to 10 mm. Accessories include an automatic vibratory feeder, collection systems for larger quantities, and a special kit for the processing of very small quantities.

Reactors are Designed for High-Pressure Chemistry Research
The HPR Series reactors have been designed for researchers who perform pressurized chemical reactions in the laboratory. High-pressure components are ASME-rated and protected by a rupture disc for safe operation. The reactors, which range in size from 50 mL to 8 L and may be operated up to 10,00 psi and 350_C, have a magnetically coupled impeller for optimal mixing. They are supplied as ready-to-use systems and require only utility connections prior to operation. The compact instruments fit into a fume hood, and their modular design makes altering the basic configuration to meet changing needs simple and cost-effective.

Glass Fiber Provides PPS Reinforcement for High-Temperature Applications
Developed specifically for use with polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), HR 562 chopped-strand glass fiber is the latest addition to the PerforMax family of hydrolysis-resistant high-performance thermoplastic reinforcements. HR 562 chopped strand is tailored to resist exposure to high temperatures. It offers the highest hydrolysis resistance of any glass-fiber reinforcements used in conjunction with PPS, thereby reducing the risk of polymer breakdown by fluids and chemicals in high-temperature environments. It provides up to 15% improvement in retained mechanical strength compared to other hydrolysis-resistant chopped-strand reinforcements. PerforMax chopped-strand reinforcements result in significantly lower outgassing than competitive products, thus delivering cleaner mold surfaces, less downtime and improved final-part aesthetics.
