Simulis Thermodynamics

Simulis Thermodynamics provides engineering and research professionals with high-quality thermophysical properties calculations that can be plugged into any software of wider application range (i.e., equipment sizing, system modeling, etc.) using COM/DCOM technology. It is also available as an Excel add-in or a toolbox in MATLAB. The software provides access to over 300 functions, in particular for calculation of any type of transport properties (e.g., specific heat, viscosity), thermodynamic properties (e.g., enthalpy, compressibility factor) or phase equilibria (e.g., VLE, LLE, VLLE, salt formation) on multi-component mixtures. Simulis Thermodynamics offers an extensive set of services (e.g., flash, data regression, phase envelope), as well as comprehensive pure-component and binary-interaction databases. Visit the firm’s website for a free evaluation version of the software.

Interface for PRO/II and Crude Assay Management System

This jointly developed interface enables SimSci-Esscor’s PRO/II process simulation users to easily integrate Haverly System’s H/CAMS crude-assay information into their process simulations to help further improve yields and profitability. Using the new interface, PRO/II users can: access H/CAMS complete crude libraries; add and/or modify libraries; predict yields and properties of user-defined blends; analyze and prepare data on single or mixed oils; group crudes; display detailed hydrocarbon information from chromatographic analyses; generate files that link reports with other models, programs, or spreadsheets; and select from English, metric or other units for entering and reporting data.

CloudWorx 1.0 for SmartPlant Review

This new CloudWorx laser-scanning software enhances and extends the usefulness and value of rich laser scan data for plant design, construction, maintenance and operations. Real-world as-built data can now easily be visualized directly in Intergraph’s SmartPlant Review. This enhances the effectiveness of both the engineering task force and owner/operator review process for retrofit projects, resulting in smoother and lower-risk retrofit construction projects and improved plant operations and maintenance. This new application supplements existing commercial CloudWorx solutions that already allow Intergraph customers to take advantage of rich point cloud data directly within Intergraph’s PDS 3-D plant design and engineering application.

Process Modeler

The Process Modeler was developed to create predictive models of product properties, production and process events. It enables users to identify and graphically visualize causes of product and/or process performance problems, through scatter plots, sensitivity analysis, ranked lists of key performance drivers and 3-D response surfaces. The models developed with Process Modeler can be put on-line using BioComp’s Process Intellect server software to write performance predictions to industrial control systems and data historians. Such virtual sensors are essential when physical sensors are too expensive, cannot be physically installed, are difficult to maintain due to corrosion or wear, or the environment is too hostile. The models are also used for sensor validation to alert operations and maintenance personnel to sensor problems.
