Seals for Deep-Groove Ball Bearings Promote Longer Service Life
Types RSL and RSH seals provide greater sealing efficiencies due to a combination of seal lip and additional labyrinth formed by a gap between the tapered rubber part and the inner ring shoulder. Use of uniquely shaped sheet steel reinforces the rubber material, which keeps the seal stiff within the lean design. High-precision manufacture of seal counterfaces and specially engineered recesses in inner ring shoulders help to reduce seal lip wear. These nitrile rubber, low-friction seals promote lower energy consumption, offer superior grease retention, and contribute to longer bearing service life. RSL and RSH seals are available for deep-groove ball bearings with bore diameters ranging from 6 mm to 25 mm and with maximum outside diameters of 52 mm. SKF USA Inc.

Self-Cleaning Filter Scales Back on Water Usage
The ORV-100-LE self-cleaning water filter uses less than 2 gal/backwash. It handles flows up to 25 gal/min on pipes from 3/4 in. to 1 in. Because the filter substantially reduces the volume of water required by a typical backwash, it offers a number of water supply and cost advantages. In particular, it reduces the amount of wastewater generated by the water filtration system, thereby cutting treatment costs for low-flow systems. Orival, Inc

Nanofiltration Membrane Removes Organics
The SR2 nanofiltration membrane significantly lowers operating costs for a wide variety of selective rejection applications, including water softening, lactose reduction, protein recovery, and antibiotic and enzyme concentration and recovery. Hardness rejection is typically 95% and organic rejection exceeds 90% for organics with molecular weight in the range of 400–600 daltons. The SR2 element softens incoming water and retains low-molecular-weight organics, while allowing monovalent salts to pass through the membrane. It concentrates pharmaceuticals without phase change in aqueous mother liquors. In water treatment applications, the SR2 element softens without the need for disposing of regeneration solutions, and it eliminates contaminants without the need to process large volumes of sludge or wasted regenerants. Process Produces UltraPure Water Without Downtime
The DeltaFlow 2.0 system produces ultrapure water without the use of hazardous ion exchange regeneration chemicals by employing three membrane separation technologies — reverse osmosis (RO), GTM membrane degasification unit and electrodeionization (EDI). The system features a new GTM module design with larger, more-efficient contactors that can be configured to produce water containing less than 5 ppb dissolved oxygen. It also utilizes improved RO membranes and an enhanced EDI system design with 50 gal/min membrane modules, which can produce less than 10 ppb silica and eliminate the need for mixed-bed polishing resins. Centrifugal Sifter Provides High-Capacity Screening for Larger Process Applications
Designed to meet high-capacity sifting for bulk load-in/load-out and larger process applications, the Rotex Centrifugal Sifter can handle a wide variety of powders, granules, agglomerates and other free-flowing materials. Processed particles ranging in size from 1⁄4 in. to 44 μm (325 mesh) are scalped with ease. The combination of high centrifugal force and blade spreading action reduces binding problems, even when handling materials that tend to flake or agglomerate due to fat or moisture content. The spreading action of the sifter’s rotating blades distributes product around the sieve cylinder for complete utilization of screen area and conveys oversize particles to discharge. Accelerated particles impinging against the sieve cause it to vibrate and clean itself. Because it is totally enclosed, the sifter is not subject to dust problems. ROTEX Inc.

Screen Classifying Cutter Controls Particle Size Range
The Model SCC-30 screen classifying cutter cuts hard, soft and fibrous materials into controlled particle sizes at high rates with minimal fines. It features a patented helical- rotor design with dozens of cutter blades attached to a helical array of staggered holders, called interconnected parallelograms, to continuously shear oversize materials against twin, stationary bed knives. Primarily employed for coarse grinding of materials into particles of uniform sizes ranging from granules down to 20–30 mesh, the cutter has a 30-in. (762 mm) throat width and can be fitted with 60 parallelograms with 120 cutter inserts. Bed screen perforations range from 1/32 to 1-1/2-in. dia. and up to 3-in. square, depending on material characteristics and desired particle size. The 11-in. shaft rotates at 30–3,600 rev/min producing up to 1,000 ft3 of sized product per hour, depending on the application. Munson Machinery Co.

Real-Time Monitoring Decreases Plant Downtime
Designed to monitor rotating, non-critical equipment, Pump SystemAlert utilizes both electrical and mechanical(e.g., vibration) input parameters to provide real-time machine health status of pump systems and other motor-driven equipment. Monitoring electrical characteristics can help find problems such as motor overload, phase imbalance or even improper wiring. Pump SystemAlert allows existing or new sensors installed throughout a piece of rotating equipment to continuously collect and record maintenance and process data. The data are compiled and stored in the control unit, allowing maintenance personnel to see equipment performance in real-time or over a given period of time.

Rupture Disk Combines Sanitary Disk and Sensor
The S-PRO-S combines a bursting disk and sensor into a single assembly, eliminating additional tri-clamp ferrules needed to install a separate sensor. When the disk bursts, the sensor’s circuit is broken, triggering activation of an alarm. With quick alarm detection, bursting disks can be replaced and overpressure situations corrected with a minimum of process downtime. The S-PRO-S is ideal for use in sanitary services. Placement of the sensor and disk scoring on the vent side present a smooth surface to the process, minimizing product build up. A non-fragmenting design prevents contamination from rupture disk pieces entering the process after bursting. The uni-body system is able to withstand full vacuum (14.7 psi) without a separate vacuum support. Available in a wide range of sizes from 1 in. to 4 in., the S-PRO-S sensor and disk are wellsuited for applications in a broad range of burst pressures (from 16 to 150 psig).
