Thermoplastic Elastomers are Fully Vulcanized
Nine materials, ranging in hardness from 40 Shore A to 50 Shore D, make up the NexPrene 9000 series of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs). A proprietary curing technology results in materials that offer processing and performance advantages for products that require soft-touch surfaces in bright colors. The materials are non-hygroscopic, so they do not need to be dried prior to processing by injection molding or extrusion. A wide range of colors can be achieved with low pigment loadings, including some pastel shades that might not be possible with conventional TPVs. They exhibit better resistance to compression set and significantly greater resistance to oil swell than competitive products, and have comparable strength and elasticity.

Rubber Repair Putty Resists Tears Better
Flexane fast-cure rubber repair putty is a urethane compound that bonds to rubber, metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood and cures to a tough, medium-hard rubber. Tear resistance is typically 265 pli (ASTM D624); maximum elongation is typically 450% (ASTM D412). Packaged in no-mess, resealable 400-mL cartridges, the putty is mixed as dispensed from hand-held manual or pneumatic dispensers with static mixing nozzles, or it can be applied with a trowel. It has a working time of 8 min, is tack-free in just 30 min, and is ready for light-duty service in 3 h or less. It withstands service temperatures up to 120°F wet or 180°F dry.

Concentrates Offer Color Strength and Lower Cost
AccelMax SC masterbatches are high-strength color concentrates designed to offer loadings of up to 80–90% and very low letdown ratios for many applications. They are suitable for polyamide (PA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PBT/ABS blends, and ABS/polycarbonate blends. The colorants, which are supplied as pellets, are available in a range of standard colors, and can be color-matched and compounded in any quantity required.

HDPE Addresses Downgauging Requirements
Reducing material costs through downgauging creates a need for higher-stiffness products. HDPE HTA 108 is a new grade of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that has been developed to improve stiffness and barrier properties in coextrusion or monolayer polyethylene (PE) films. It also improves processability when blended with either linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) or metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (mLLDPE). With a density of 0.961, only small amounts of HDPE HTA 108 are required in LDPE, LLDPE and mLLDPE to significantly increase stiffness. The material’s relatively high melt index (0.7 g/10 min at 2.16 kg or 46 g/10 min at 21.6 kg) ensures homogeneous blending into conventional polyethylene grades for blown and cast film extrusion.

Externally Convoluted Hose has Improved Flexibility
The new TLCTCO chemical transfer hose consists of a bonded smooth-i.d. Chemfluor FEP fluoropolymer liner; multiple EPDM rubber internal layers; double-plycord pressure reinforcement; double- helix, high-tensile-strength carbon steel wire support; and an externally convoluted EPDM outer cover (thus the –CO designation, for “convoluted outer”). Its increased flexibility is characterized by a reduced-force-to-bend and a small minimum bend radius. It is available in 3/4-in.- to 2-in.-i.d. sizes, and is rated for use at temperatures ranging from –40°F to 350°F.

Floor Coating Resists Chemicals and Abrasion
The Tigerguard coating system prevents floor erosion in general traffic areas. It fills in surface defects and provides a durable protection barrier that resists mars, scratches, abrasion, chemicals and impact. The system is easy to apply, requiring no special skills, and can be installed by inhouse maintenance staff.

Powdered Coatings Protect Metal Structures and Pipe
Raprex 400 coatings are modified linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) powders that can be applied to steel, aluminum, copper and other metals via standard powder-coating technologies. While polyethylene normally exhibits poor bonding strength to metal, Raprex 400 coatings use a proprietary process that imparts improved adhesion and coating characteristics to the base polyethylene, through oxidation, without the addition of chemical additives or a metallocene catalyst. Requiring no chemical pretreatment of the substrate, the coatings provide excellent corrosion protection, toughness and abrasion resistance in a variety of end uses.
