Process Safety Management for the Biofuel Industry, an online training course to enhance awareness, was developed by the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) under a “Susan Harwood Grant” from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
CCPS has designed the course from the ground up specifically for the Biofuel industries. Attendees will learn about Process Safety Management (PSM), how to implement a PSM program and the benefits that derive from implementing one. Its intent is to increase Process safety awareness for companies and individuals covered by the Occupation Safety and Health Act.
The Process Safety Management for the Biofuel Industry awareness training will be available from October 8, 2010 until September 30, 2012. There is no cost to the company or individual for taking the course. This training is not an OSHA requirement.
About the Course
The coursework consists of 9 on-line modules that each last from 30 to 60 minutes. Attendees can choose to focus on Biodiesel or Bioethanol. Each module is sequential and builds on the material included in previous modules. A quiz follows each module to determine understanding and retention of the material presented in the training. Attendees must answer 80% of the questions correctly before the system allows them to move to the next module. The system allows users three attempts to achieve a correct response rate of 80% or better. If a passing rate is not achieved on the third attempt, the student can choose to exit or retake the course by signing in under a different user name and filling out the profile.
Upon completion of all nine modules and a course survey, a Certificate of Completion with Professional Development Hours can be printed by the attendee. This certificate can be retained for company and individual training records.
