Participation

Any manufacturing company may participate provided they sign the Participants Agreement, pay the annual dues and are willing to contribute their own process safety incident data.  The PSID project is sponsored and managed by CCPS but non-CCPS member companies may participate at slightly higher dues than CCPS members.

Participating Companies will Receive:

  • System management and maintenance services by CCPS;
  • Guidance documents for system use, including tutorials on data entry, use of lists and reports;
  • Programs built into PSID allowing data analysis, data graphing, and printing;
  • Continuous data and list updates—updated every time a sponsoring company user logs on

Participating Companies will Submit:

A minimum number of incidents according to company sales and agreed to by the committee of sponsoring companies.  Submitted incidents may be from any year-current and/or past years.

Typical incident submittal requirements have been:

  • Sales of $1 billion or greater-10 incidents per year;
  • Sales of $1 million to $1 billion-5 incidents per year;
  • Sales below $1 million-1 incident per year.

Supplier Anonymity

The anonymity of submitted incident data is carefully protected.  The database does not include the name and address of the submitting organization unless they make special arrangements to do so.  Once an incident has been entered into the database, it is assigned a random number as an identifier and all records in the CCPS PSID Administrator's possession are destroyed.  See Confidentiality and Liability for additional details.

Ongoing costs

Operating costs are shared equitably by sponsoring companies.  The next year's dues are established in the 4th quarter of each year and are based on anticipated operational (and approved upgrade) costs.  New members may receive a first year discount determined by the PSID Database Administrator if they commit to at least a two year membership.  Typical first year discounts range from 5% to 15%.  Non-CCPS member company dues are 50% more than CCPS member company PSID dues.

The 2006 PSID dues schedule is as follows:

  • CCPS member company--$1,950 US;
  • Non-CCPS member company--$2,925 US.

Note:  Special consideration is given to small (one or two manufacturing facility) companies, at the discretion of the PSID Database Administrator.  In no case are the PSID dues greater than the CCPS dues.
