View All Committees

The current standing committees are:

Admissions -- receives and reviews all applications for membership.

Audit -- arranges for the annual audit and interprets the results for the Board of Directors.  The committee may also research other financial issues related to the audit.

Awards -- formulates policies and programs for AIChE awards and recommends the recipients of the awards to the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors Awards -- The Board Awards Committee is charged with recommending nominations for the Founders and the Van Antwerpen awards.

Constitution & By-Laws -- studies, recommends, and drafts amendments to the AIChE Constitution; drafts bylaws for the Board of Directors consideration; advises the Board on interpretation of the Constitution and Bylaws.

Education & Accreditation -- advises schools on methods and standards of chemical engineering education and inspecting and evaluating chemical engineering programs to make recommendations for accreditation.

Equipment Testing Procedures -- formulates and publishes procedures for testing the performance of chemical engineering equipment.

Ethics -- maintains a code of ethics, considers all matters of professional ethics and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Executive -- acts for the Board of Directors on items of business delegated to it by the Board. Consists of Council Members and AIChE's Executive Director.

Finance -- reviews the financial affairs of the Institute and reports its recommendations to the Board of Directors. Consists of Board Members and AIChE's Executive Director.

Government Relations   -- leads AIChE's programs for interaction with the local, state, and federal government.

Industrial Advisory Board -- conducts continuous evaluation of projects; advises the association on its overall program goals; assists in uncovering opportunities of special interest to the industry and the profession; and helps interpret AIChE's programs and goals to the corporate community.

International Committee -- develops and implements strategic and tactical activities related to the international component of AIChE's mission.

Membership -- recommends ways to attract potentially qualified applicants to membership in AIChE.

Minority Affairs -- promotes activities that will encourage the education and training of minorities in engineering and related disciplines.

National Program -- organizes and conducts all national, annual, and special Institute meetings and coordinates joint meetings with other technical societies.

Nominating -- draws up election ballots for the election of national officers. Consists of the Board of Directors and members appointed by the Board.

Professional Development -- devises methods and programs to assist the individual chemical engineer to develop professional development at each stage of their career.

Publication -- studies and evaluates the publication activities of the Institute and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Research & New Technology-- serves as an advisory body to the Board of Directors on matters relating to chemical engineering research.

Student Chapters -- provides assistance to and exercises general supervision of AIChE student chapters; considers and recommends new student chapter charters; and sponsors student chapter publications and activities. The committee also organizes programming for an Annual National Student Conference.

Technician's Affairs -- develops methods and programs that help technicians perform as team members and that stimulate the contribution to the profession; advises schools on curricula and cooperates in the accreditation of programs for the education and training of chemical engineering technicians.

Testing Committee -- formulates and promulgates suggested procedures for testing performance of chemical engineering equipment.

Women's Initiatives -- takes a leadership role in promoting the entry, development, and full participation of women in the Institute and the profession.

Young Professionals Advisory Board
AIChE's Volunteer & Membership Activities Department provides committee officers with leadership training and assistance to help leaders effectively serve the needs of their constituents.
