Why organize a Centennial PR Program?
Chemical engineering has been a vehicle for innovation and progress throughout its history. As AIChE celebrates our 100th anniversary, we are celebrating chemical engineering’s many achievements and the numerous individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the profession.
In addition to a look back at past achievements, we are also looking ahead toward the future and the promise chemical engineering holds for addressing some of the world’s most pressing global concerns.
By developing a successful publicity program for your section/chapter centennial celebration events, you will not only energize (and perhaps increase) your membership, you will help to inform your local community about the ways in which chemical engineers impact and improve their quality of life.
A successful public relations program, especially during an anniversary year, can serve as an opportunity to:
- Increase awareness of the positive contributions of chemical engineers
- Energize local membership
- Recruit volunteer leaders and new members
- Recognize the achievements and employment of local members
- Encourage a more technically literate society
- Foster collaborative relationships between different sectors of your community- school groups/civic groups/etc.
